Yeah

The Beast has been amazingly ridiculous and I'm very amused by his particular juxtaposition of malevolence and whimsy. It works for him.

just watched the third episode... it is really crazy. I sort of expected some elements cause of the book but it has taken a real turn from what
I've read in some major ways.

There was a point where everything could have been neatly resolved if Julia had just made a dif move. It was a nice almost yell at the tv moment for me. That said, they did discuss the challenge of taking action in the face of these great threats w/ Alice and it probably applies here. Also the contract might have been a reason why she still needed The Beast and didn't just do what I was hoping she'd do. Either way, Julia's prob my fav in the show.

Yeah, nearly everything bad at the moment really is Julia's fault.

I didn't understand why she interfered she should have just killed the Fox and didn't have to worry about if The Beast would immediately try and kill her afterwards. Of course if the others had waited about 15 seconds it also could have been avoided but they had no ideal what was going on or cared.

It certainly seemed like she had plenty of time to do it, and what's more, if she had, the Beast would have been out of her hair thanks to Penny's practically perfect timing. Penny appears, don't scream "no" or run at him, just slash the throat of your frozen enemy.

Oh btw, what is best in life?

Obviously book SPOILERS:

Nah events play out MUCH differently in the book. We don't actually see much of Julia and her back story in Book 1. Just the points where her life intersects with Quentins and those are few and far between and by the climax of things with the Beast, Julia and whatever she's dealing with are irrelevant.

I'm 3/4ths of the way through book 2 now and Julia is a much bigger part of it, as is her back story. If similar interactions btwn her and Raynard occur, I haven't gotten to them. In fact Raynard has just been mentioned once or twice in passing and only recently, but it sort of makes more sense as the analog of that group that she's a part of that summons him all live in France (as does she at this point)

So no interaction at all between Julia and the Beast that I've read and I'd be surprised if there was any considering the Alice & The Beast thing all went down pretty similarly towards the end of book 1.

It's always nice to see Penny's arrogance coming back to bite him over and over.

Was this episode pro or anti-abortion?
