There are set shots of Ray bandaged up talking with Antigone. And the season trailer showed scenes with Ray not yet shown.

So either the creators really pulled a great fake out with these photo and trailer scenes, or Ray is alive.

Yeah there better be a great explanation. Because even rubber bullets would kill at that range.

One answer is that the masked killer is sending a message, and intentionally shoots Ray in a non-lethal spot.

I didn't see anything wrong with Vaughn, and I expect him to do a good job in the series. Ferrel was obviously the standout of the main characters, though.

I didn't care for the bike cop and his plot, but at least he wound up playing an important part in terms of bringing the characters together.

I really liked the scene with McAdams and Morse, who killed it as the dad.
David Morse is in this?

Criminally unused and underrated actor

What if Ray was wearing a bulletproof vest? It would let him survive the shotgun blast, no? Obviously I'll excuse our Canadian and European friends from this question.

Yup, he is a detached father who runs some kind of religious cult. Seems hippy-ish, but Antigone mentions it ruining children. Morse played the part well, and there's a side case related to the cult... so we should see more Morse later.

Wow, so no vest at all? His chest should've been shredded like he thought in the dream sequence. Even rubber bullets/riot shells at point blank can kill.

Well, Ray's survival aside, this was a slow episode until the last 10 minutes. I just don't care for biker cop. His personality is a zero until we see him get angry here and there. I cannot understand why he is repressing his homosexual feelings THIS hard in modern times. His struggle doesn't pan out on screen because there is nothing else to care about when it comes to his character. As one male pristitute says, he is "angsty cop drama".

Why isn't this the Ray and Antigone show with a side of Frank? Instead, we had the Frank and biker cop episode with a side of Antigone and Ray. I feel like McAdams and Farrel could easily carry this season. Hell, the hidden homosexuality thing could've even been merged into Ray's story. Guy has a macho cop dad... tried to follow in his dad's footsteps... tried to start a family with a woman and have a child... the rape then shatters his professionalism... followed by the child being the product of the rape shattering his illusion of having a heterosexual traditional family.

That'd be better than biker cop squinting at everyone and getting angry about relationships. Christ, is he even a good cop? At least Ray is considered the best in his district (when sober) and Antigone is highly regarded as well. Biker cop has used his looks to... get a sliver of info from prostitutes? Gah.

Biker cop did the most police work this episode.

And had the best line: "is that a fucking e-cigarette?"

About time a major character smoked an e-cigarette. You never see those things on screen but I see people smoking them all the time. Trans people are more present on TV than e-cigarettes. Personally I don't like either but glad they're on TV. Just kidding about the trans, I'm on herochat, so obviously I think they're wonderful.
