It seems like a wish list generated by a bunch of people with no practical experience in what they are talking about instead of a carefully thought out plan.

I don’t mean to sound defeatist or to suggest that a bunch of junior politicians should be experts in all of the fields that one would need to be in order to enact something like this. But I’d expect them to consult some experts to see what can reasonably be done and what the costs are.

ALSO: Any plan to cut fossil fuel consumption needs to embrace nuclear power. That the Green Deal is so dismissive of nuclear power makes me think it’s written by people who care more about ideology than facts or results.

And they way the authors kept changing it as certain aspects proved to be unpopular, then acting as if the newer versions were their real plan all along, makes me doubt their ability and integrity.

I'm guessing it's more of a strategic thing. They saw what happened to ACA and decided to aim higher so there is more wiggle room.

Moves like that don’t really inspire confidence. It has the exact opposite effect.

In terms of implementation or even legit discussion, it hardly matters if AOC and others "aimed too high."  Not when the other side is "It will kill all cows" / "Air travel will have to stop!!!!!!!!!!!"

The modern GOP is a radical party dominated by nothing more than what their big donors and fanatics desire. Ten years in, they are still trying to destroy the ACA, and have NO plan to "replace" it. Unless one counts "Fuck you" as a plan. Along with "Oh, and Obama was a Kenyan Muslim Socialist."

The plutocrats that control the Republican, and much of the Democratic, parties don't care about Americans, America, or the world. If half of Florida ends up under water, they can move and leave everyone else to suffer. If people moving from nations closer to the equator increases, they can head northward and let the masses fight over what is left.

In a nation that cannot even pass universal background checks or preserve net neutrality, you are not going to be getting meaningful climate action. Lets face it, the U.S. is not a Democracy or Republic. It is a corporate controlled oligarchy that functions as a kleptocracy. In that reality, all you get from the figureheads is window dressing, platitudes, and blame being cast on people who look different from "us."

I don't think you can use nuclear power & get clean results.   We're seeking with Hanford,  we've had the 3 mile island melt down, I lived in Germany during Chernobyl which I believe is still uninhabitable,  & Japan & fukashima & how that's had an effect I  their region & the water.
My negative Karma correlates to the amount of butthurt I've caused you!

In those examples that's specifically about the system failing and failing spectacularly. When the system works it's clean as fuck.

We got a politician here against utilising wind power.

His sole argument is that wind turbines are ugly to look at.

He’s not wrong. They’re also extremely inefficient.

In 2018, Scotland became the only country in the world to rely on wind turbines to generate 100% of its electrical needs.

Damn I did not know that. That’s very impressive. But it’s a feat that is probably only repeatable in a few nations/regions.
