Captain Marvel - No Spoilers
« on: March 06, 2019, 01:30:00 PM »
Havent seen it but since it opens today in Australia thought I would start this thread.

Reviews seem to peg it as "good but not great" - critics saying that its a bit generic feeling and that the beginning in partiuclar is pretty boring.

Getting the feeling that it would lose another 10% if it wasnt considered an important movie because women.

.Not particularly psyched for this one but I guess i will catch it this weekend

I thought the trailers had looked really bad and they seem to try and shove a lot of stuff in our faces

I've noticed the past few days, some of the anti-Captain Marvel folk have been promoting Alita: Battle Angel I guess as an alternative.  I'm curious to know what that will do to its box office.

Alita is doing decent overseas but not so strong in the US.  It has a big budget so it's so so if there will be a sequel.

Just saw it. It was good. Pretty straightforward action origin story. Has easily top 5 Stan Lee cameo.

Stan Lee tribute and cameo were both great.

I definitely liked it. Not the high level of Black Panther and Infinity War but it's good.

I will see it on Tuesday.  My only worry is the reveal of how Fury lost his eye which has been spoiled to me a bit and sounds ridiculously stupid and on the level of the "Martha" scene from BvS.  Without going into much detail, obviously, were you guys satisfied with how it played out?

I liked it and agree with pittfox.

The eye part was handled like the arm in Hot Tub Time Machine. I thought it worked.

Yes and no. How they handle it doesn't come out of left field like the Martha situation nor is it as simple as basic description of the scene would make it seem so I think they handled it fine. On the other hand I still would have preferred a more badass situation for Fury.
