The Paul W.S. Andersen films are grade a garbage.

Something "more alike the games" but still equally as absurd, although in
a more "so bad its good" rhetoric are the animated films, Damnation,
Degeneration, and Vendetta.

So far, only Degeneration has been the only non-game media from the games
that isn't a colossal train wreck. Degeneration is a bit boring, and Vendetta is
just bad. Like live action Resident Evil bad.

So I'm hoping that this series can actually be good without some of the garbage
that's been thrown over the franchise as of late.

The games are still a huge hit. RE7 is considered a return to greatness and they just released a remake of RE2 which is making bank.

RE4 saved the franchise while equally damning it by taking the franchise to an action horror direction.

RE5 and especially RE6 are the banes to the franchise, along with forgettable side games like Operation Raccoon City and so on. It wasn't until the 7th game that the franchise finally made a step back in the right direction. Its not perfect, there are still quite a few flaws with 7, but its leagues above what 5 and 6 were.

Only saving grace is that Anderson is now focusing on ruining Monster Hunter, so the RE franchise is finally free from him.
