Sinse Aquaman got his first movie for the DCEU, would it a good idea to give the King of Atlantis sequels.

Should a movie that will likely make $1 billion get a sequel?

Let me think on this...

This is their best movie since Wonder Woman (i.e. their only other good film), so I'm sure sequels are in the works.  I'm guessing Black Manta will be the big bad for the next one.  Maybe they'll get into some stuff about Neptune later on.  There are possibilities.

Oh God I hope it's not Manta. He was the worst part.

What's wrong with him?  I thought he was better than Orm.  I thought Orm was pretty bland.

He was so comical angry at Aquaman when everything that went wrong was straight up his and his dad's fault. I never felt less sympathy for a character since everyone in Rent.

Left to die in a situation he created. Again I feel zero sympathy.

That's pretty typical super villain behavior.

It just felt so unnecessary for the movie. I would have preferred the went the Boba Fett route and just made him this badass Merc working for the main badguy.

But isn't that basically Black Manta's entire character? In the comics, he just sort of showed up and started hating for no good reason; it was only after a few decades that they decided to give him some sort of origin. Him being a completely irredeemable douchebag that just really, really hates Aquaman without a good or remotely sympathetic reason to do so is part of his charm. A villain that's just unreasonably hateful and spiteful without reason and redeeming qualities is a nice change of pace from most.

I guess. It just would have worked better if he was more cold and determined than just super angry. like the whole "I don't want your money" schtick was grating to me.
