If you put your personal pronouns in your twitter bio (he/him or she/her) you just might be a social justice twat.

Of course not. I have some conservative ideas and some liberal ideas. No one is just one thing.

Seriously though. Who cares? If someone what's a specific word to describe them who am to deny them or judge them for it? It's literally zero effort on my part. If doing very little will make someone more comfortable and therefore a more functioning member of society than whatever.

That's a good sentiment for people who are putting that in their bio for comfort or whatever, I'm not bothered by them either, it's the small minority of those people that do that just to force their SJW views on people, the ones that PC Police you every chance they get.

Yeah where I work we hand-out caps for the kids to take home. We were instructed yesterday that we can no longer assume the pink ones are for girls & the blue ones are for boys...
We must let them choose themselves what colour they want...suffice to say, the girls still choose pink & the boys, blue.

I'm not surprised. I also think it's fine to give the kids a choice.

This concept of specifying pronouns seems to be mostly an online phenomenon. And because online interactions lack the nuance of face-to-face ones, they seem more aggressive and confrontational. For one thing, in real life it's not that common to use a gendered pronoun when you're talking to someone, you use "you" and "your" mostly. Also, in real life most people use the pronouns of what someone most resembles.

The closest I've ever had to deal with this in real life was at work. This was over ten years ago, well before Caitlyn Jenner. There was a guy at work, who was the spitting image of Herman Munster. Let's call him Tom. I didn't know Tom that well, but he was in another department that my department worked with regularly. I rotated out of the site where Tom worked, and a year later when I rotated back, I was told that Tom was now a woman, going by Tina. I was told "don't say anything!!", like I fucking would have. She still looked like Herman Munster. Did I internally think Tom was now a woman? No, I did not. Did I use female pronouns with Tina in her presence, out of politeness? Yes, I did. And when I worked with Tina, our interactions were as professional as before.

So I rotate out again, and a year later I come back, and was told that Tina was once again Tom. And "don't say anything!!" Yeah, no shit.

Basically, real life interactions are a lot smoother than Internet ones. Humans are social creatures and mostly, we don't want to make waves. I don't think using someone's desired pronouns is a big deal. I would find it off-putting if someone came out and made a demand that I use a certain set of pronouns if they didn't match their appearance (while Tina was Tina, she wore a dress, make up, the whole nine yards, which made it easy.) And I find it more than off-putting when people say that if someone didn't internally believe that Tom was now a woman, they're an awful bigot.

The point was it was never a big deal to begin with...we never bothered to hand out individual caps. We just dumped them on the table & told the kids they could have one.

It was just ridiculous that we had to have a staff meeting where the topic was deemed "serious & sensitive."

Yeah I had an uncle who years after separating from my aunt, decided he felt more comfortable wearing female clothes. His mother, close relatives & friends were fine & accepting with it.

However the times I visited him, he felt ashamed & would resort back to male clothing. I always wanted to tell him that I knew & had no issues.
Maybe I guess deep down he didn't want to "taint" the memories of being married to my aunty.

At least English language has almost no noun gender issue.
That shit is becoming ridiculous here.
