Has Pixar lost its charm?
« on: September 22, 2018, 07:49:40 PM »
It looks like in the 2010's era most people have been criticizing Pixar for mostly being unoriginal or making too much sequels. Pixar president Jim Morris said that after Toy Story 4, there are no plans for further sequels, Could they recover in the 2020's and make very fresh original movies or possibly continue to be very predictable, cliched and unoriginal?.

I think there's enough love there that they can bounce back.

It pretty much lost it's identity once Disney ate it. It managed to create a few good movies while Disney digested it, but it really hasn't had a distinct identity in a long time now.

Disneys assimilation of Pixar has caused lots of problems. Pixar got all the praise from 1995 beginning with Toy Story and ended with 2010's Toy Story 3.

I've never liked the Cars movies, Incredibles 2 was awful sinse it was a complete rehash of the first movies story.

I haven't seen Incredibles 2 yet, but I would definitely say Pixar slowed down on the boundary-pushing classics in the past decade, with Inside Out being the last major score. I know at least one woman has claimed they ripped her off for it, but since when do Disney & Pixar not get that sort of accusation leveled at them? I just know that was the last killer movie I saw from them.

It's not that they have lost their touch is more Disney is pushing them to push out sequels to acclaimed films for the big bucks.

Like I2 and FN 2.

LOL

Inside Out (2015) & Coco (2017) were both phenomenal and original. The Good Dinosaur (2015) was pretty good, too, just not a "holy shit blockbuster!". Cars gets shit on, but they pumped out the sequels because the merchandise sells through the roof.

They haven't lost anything.

The Good Dinosaur is such crap, it looks like Dreamworks The Croods and its story is very lame.
