That means, whenever you were going to die? Subtract 10 years. Go.

Would we know when we would originally die?  Like if I lived to be 100, I wouldn’t mind too much if I died at 90.

I feel I'd seal the deal...unless expire date for me is end of this month.

Yeah, i’m 50, man. I’m not playing w. house money, here.
If i had a -minimum- of ten years to enjoy the money (Crowley Crossroads style), i’d do it. If i’m not gonna live 10 years regardless, then nah.

Are we presuming our time of death is set in stone at some unknown point in the future? Fated, essentially? If so, this is a huge gamble, since some of us may be fated to die within the next ten years, or not long beyond that, in which case accepting this offer could mean instant death, or imminent death.

If our time of death isn't fated though, that means we could use the money to maximise our chances of living to a ripe old age, in which case we could potentially enjoy a few more decades as millionaires, and leave generous inheritances to our loved ones, or favoured charities.

If it's the latter scenario, I'd probably accept the offer. If it's the former, probably not.

Yes.

Even if I ended up dying 2 seconds after getting the money, my family would be taken care of. so there is no down side for me.

Here's a counter argument I heard to get people thinking:

With that amount of money, you can increase the chances of living longer with better healthcare and what not. BUT subtract 10 years from your expiration date no matter how long you push that back.

With my real life health issues the Doctors give me way less than five years, but if someone wanted to turn my lights out today and give 10 million to my family I'd say OK... But I want to see the cash up front first.

Damn really? :-( Doctors have given people less and people have conquered those odds. Be one of those people dude.

Sorry to hear that, bud, I had no idea.

If i had that much money, living healthy’d be the last thing on my mind.

I take the money.

How much time we have is unknown, but I do know that I don't have 10 mill laying around right now. I have 3-going-on-5 kids, and at least 2 of them, maybe even 3, will be college-bound (the eldest, youngest and maybe the middle child; the other 2...eh...).

Thanks for the nice thoughts but in 2002 I had emergency ascending aortic dissection surgery and stroked out on the table. They thought then I would only last 5-10 years at the absolute most, also that I would be a paraplegic.
Screw the white coats!!  I rehabed my way from a wheelchair, to a walker, to crutches, to my cane. Dragging my Oxygen tank around behind me.
I'm gonna last forever as a head floating in a jar like on Futurama!!  With a plug in the back of my head for the Internet.
