Intercontinental Railroading Tournament
« on: August 18, 2018, 09:53:32 PM »
So I did both the IC and U.S. tournaments today and honestly the IC one seemed more fun, so I decided I go with it....for now.

So everybody's in the best shape they were when they were I.C. champ....example Triple H would be a main eventer given he held it in 01 while Ric Flair would be way past his prime as he held it in like 05 or 06.

No outside interference, no weapons, beyond that its a standard match. like say if Honky Tonk Man gets himself counted out....well then he's gone from the tournament.

Also as a small aside, randomly I got the same match between two guys in both the IC and U.S. tournaments. You get a No Prize for figuring it out, if I may be blunt*

And I'm going to guess Eddie Guerrero vs Ricky the Dragon Steamboat for the double jeopardy question

So I did both the IC and U.S. tournaments today and honestly the IC one seemed more fun, so I decided I go with it....for now.

Anyway, the brackets

Bracket 1

1: Jeff Hardy vs the Road Dogg- Jeff

2: Eddie Guerrero vs Ricky the Dragon Steamboat- I'll go Ricky here TBH

3: Chris Benoit vs Kofi Kingston- Benoit

4: Billy Gunn vs 'The Heart Break Kid" Shawn Michaels- Shawn

Bracket 2

1: Razor Ramon vs Santino Marella- Razor

2: Chris Jericho vs John Morrison- Jericho

3: 'The British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith vs The Big Show- Show. Davey's got the win over Bret, but that was really made by all the tension that made both guys go all out yet hold back at the same time, and honestly a little bit of luck. Against Show Davey's going to try to match his strength and that won't go well

4: Lance Storm vs Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine- hmmmm Valentine. If it were U.S. Champ Storm it might go differently

Bracket 3

1: Rikishi vs Umaga- Umaga

2: Ezekiel Jackson vs Val Venis- Val wears Zeke down

3: Bret 'The Hitman' Hart vs 'The World's Most Dangerous Man' Ken Shamrock- Bret via roll up

4: Diesel vs Edge- I think Diesel would have it most days

Bracket 4

1: Cody Rhodes vs Tito Santana- excellent bout with Cody barely getting it

2: Christian vs Kevin Owens- I think Owens JUUUST barely overall

3: The Honky Tonk Man vs Daniel Bryan- Bryan makes him TAAAAAP

4: Marty Janetty vs Carlito- Marty by a hair

Bracket 5

1: D'Lo Brown vs The Miz- Miz

2: The Godfather vs Big E.- I'll actually go with Godfather. He was a surprisingly good mid-tier back in the Attitude Era

3: Owen Hart vs Kane- Kane. Owen will give a good accounting of himself and put up a fight, but just no

4: Test vs Rey Mysterio- Rey Rey

Brackrt 6

1: Kurt Angle vs Mr. Perfect- Angle after a classic

2: Don Muraco vs Zack Ryder- Muraco

3: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Rowdy Roddy Piper- oh this would be awesome as hell. Austin though.

4: The Mountie vs 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair- an old Flair is still good enough to handle the Mountie

Bracket 7

1: Macho Man Randy Savage vs Luke Harper- Savage

2: Ken Patera vs The Ultimate Warrior- Warrior

3: Jeff Jarrett vs Shelton Benjamin- Shelton

4: Triple H vs Drew McIntyre- HHH

Bracket 8

1: Dean Ambrose vs Pedro Morales- probably Pedro

2: The Rock vs Seth Rollins- It'd be a good one, but as far as their IC runs go I'm going to go with Quality over Length here and give it to Monday Night Rollins

3: 'Wildman' Marc Mero vs 'The Ninth Wonder of the World' Chyna- Mero. If it were 'Marvelous' Marc Mero then that'd be the PERFECT guy for Chyna to upend, but 'Wildman' still had some pizzazz to him. beating guys like Faarooq. He'd be reluctant to hit a lady.....but nearly being upended because of that and being sent back to his own time after this tournament ends, even mindwiped, would subconsciously turn him into the he-man woman hating prick we all...did we like or hate the guy?

4: 'Texas Tornado' Kerry Von Erich vs 'The Legend Killer' Randy Orton- Honestly see Orton hitting an RKO on one of the revolutions for Kerry's discus punch

Bracket 9

1: Goldust vs CM Punk- Punk is comfortable enough in his sexuality not to be bother by Dustin's games, giving HIM the edge

2: Dolph Ziggler vs Dean Douglas- Ziggler so bad it ain't even funny

3: Booker T vs Wade Barrett- Booker

4: Ahmed Johnson vs Ryback- hmmmm....gut feeling says Ahmed.

Bracket 10

1: Curtis Axel vs Rob Van Dam- RVD 4:20

2: Roman Reigns vs John 'Bradshaw' Layfield- Reigns

3: William Regal vs Albert- Regal

4: Pat Patterson vs 'Ravishing' Rick Rude- I think just being in proximity to Rude would make Patterson melt into a puddle, leaving him easily covered. That or Rude just beats him

I think that's everyone. Voting ends Friday.

Bracket 1

1: Jeff Hardy

2: Ricky the Dragon Steamboat

Bracket 2

1: Razor Ramon

2: Chris Jericho

3: The Big Show

4: Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine

Bracket 3

1: Umaga

2: Christian

3: The Honky Tonk Man

4: Carlito

Bracket 5

1: The Miz

2: Big E.

3: Kane

4: Rey Mysterio

Brackrt 6

1: Kurt Angle : A quarterfinal worthy match in the first round. Kurt edges it.

3: Stone Cold Steve Austin

4: 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair

Bracket 7

1: Macho Man Randy Savage

2: The Ultimate Warrior

3: Shelton Benjamin

4: Triple H

Bracket 8

1: Pedro Morales : Given Pedro's status at the time ( sometimes #2 guy in the fed ) I just can't see Dean winning this.

2: The Rock

3: 'Wildman' Marc Mero : What Jack said.

4: 'The Legend Killer' Randy Orton

Bracket 9

1: CM Punk

2: Dolph Ziggler

3: Booker T : I love Wade, but he was one of the biggest chumps ever when it came to the IC title.

4: Ryback

Bracket 10

1: Rob Van Dam

2: Roman Reigns

3: William Regal

4: 'Ravishing' Rick Rude

anyway, given it's the eve of this round being over I'll go ahead and reveal which match it was.

I left clues like being 'blunt' or 'brusque'.

These are synonyms for 'curt'

as in Curt 'Mr. Perfect' Hennig and alternately Kurt Angle, who are random opponents in the first round of both sets of tournaments I came up with.
