Biggest boost in power or skill from movie to movie

Example, the Riddick character from PITCH BLACK to CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK.
In the original he was no doubt badass, but got captured and recaptured, and had believable competition w. one bounty hunter.
In the sequel he was taking out bounty hunters left and right, trained necro soldiers and leaders, killing ppl w. tea cups, to say nothing of the light not seeming to bother his eyes, when it was a major weakness in the original.

The third movie seemed to have settled somewhere in between the two renditions.

No one?
Okay, got a few more, but didnt want to take anyone’s:

Bruce Campbell in the EVIL DEAD franchise. He spent the original cowering and/or hiding in fear. The sequel had him as the star, cutting off his own hand fighting the darkness 1 on 1. By the third he was a basically unstoppable (if dumb af) killing machine, and dont even get me started on how awesome he is in the series.

Rambo. In the original he was highly trained yes, but the movie was more about a flawed human being, where the sequel was pure wish fulfillment, and he became the stereotypical one man army ppl still parody today.

All the recurring FAST & FURIOUS characters.
Watching the first, there’s zero hint these guys are going to end up on the world stage, chased by/working for clandestine agencies, fighting international terrorists, preventing nuclear armageddon.

Iron Man pretty remained at one level for almost all of his appearances but then came Infinity War where he has a nano suit that can fight Thanos for a bit.  Same goes for Dr Strange: one movie, the guy is a low key Green Lantern with some portal abilities.  Then in Infinity War, he can give Thanos trouble without needing the Time Stone.

John McClane started off being more of an everyman compared to the other action heroes around that time but in the fourth movie, he's ramping cars into helicopters and stuff.

Good ones.
McClane is glaringly obvious, as his shtick was being the ‘everyman’ of action heroes. Give Willis credit though, he opened the action genre up to a lot more actors.

El Mariachi is a great example.

1st movie: Just a dude trying to survive.

2nd movie: Action hero who can take a beating.

3rd movie: Legendary badass with superhuman aim and damage soak.

Also, as it is with Sarah Conner, Ellen Ripley turned into an action hero between the first and second movie.

I had Ripley listed, but removed her, which I probably shouldn't have. If you count her clone in the fourth film as Ripley too (which she kind of was in spirit), then that's another big bump right there.

Adding a few more...

Luke Skywalker
Neo
Jason Voorhees
Harry Osborn
Shuya Nanahara (Battle Royale)

I assume Harry Potter underwent significant progression between his films, although I've not watched any of them.

Yeah, on Harry & Company but that made sense. They were students, learning throughout the series.

Really good picks, especially the females. Jason, too.

Cap went from it being a big deal for him to leap over a fence and barely turning Loki's head with a punch, to brawling with Ultron and Iron Man. He's the most noticable case so far!

Ga dalf I felt actually got nerfed from being the Grey to the White. The biggest stuff he did was in Fellowship.

We saw a direct comparative increase in power. He treated Saruman like nothing.
