Fair enough man.

I've only seen Strange & IW once & I'm honestly not that invested in the characters to carry on debating.

True. But they did talk up his power a lot for not a lot of show.

I saw thr movie with some people who don't know anything about Thanos outside of the MCU movies, and they definitely weren't expecting the god we got in the comics. They were just looking forward to someone so powerful he couldn't be stopped, which is a somewhat different thing.

I kind of liked that the snap took a significant toll on Thanos, and that the stones had to be activated a certain way instead of always being "on" at a whim. Since he was the protagonist in a lot of ways, it was more interesting to see him struggle a bit more.

While I would have enjoyed fully omnipotent Thanos, I still loved what we got.

Actually seeing him wear the Infinity Gauntlet on the big screen is something I never would have imagined would actually happen.

Marvel seems to want to gradually reveal their cosmics.  I'm guessing they are afraid general audiences would find the idea too out there for whatever reason.  Odin's feats were mostly vague and offscreen, Dormmamu was mostly in another realm, the Celestials are all dead, and Thanos has at least some physical limitations while wielding the Infinity Gauntlet.  They are gradually dipping their toes into the concept of all-powerful characters.

Marvel will never go to same power levels in movies as they have in comics. It wouldn't translate as well. The way they've set it up this far us pretty even with the books, as far as hierarchy/formidability goes. So I'm good with it.

I'm still dissapointed we didn't see Black Dwarf vs Hulk.

Watching this for the umpteenth time, the MCU is really a feat in film. The merging of all these different franchises, each with a different tone, yet all have the same "feel." Over 18 years and no real flops.

3. Wong didn't use the portal offensively on purpose. It was an accident so no reason to think it's a technique he'd teach Strange.

I'm not trying to flog a head horse but I happened to watch IW again, last night...

When Banner realises he can't transform, Tony tells Wong to protect him.
The battle starts & Strange opens a portal & pushes Banner through it out of harm's way...

As the portal opened, it expanded & sliced a yellow cab in half.
One half remained on the street whilst the other half fell through the portal with Banner into the park.

Juz saying Strange experienced himself the potential of the portal as a weapon (slicing a cab in half) without Wong.

Which happened in the film. You brought up Wong teaching it to him previously. Also the cab was accidental as well and not an offensive attack technique.

Strange ran through 5 quadrillion scenarios or whatever bullshit it was. You don't think one of those involved him using a portal to cut off Thanos' hand? It obviously didn't work or that would have been the tactic he went with

Of course it was an accident!

There's a saying that implies people learn from their mistakes.

Yet you claimed he should've learned it prior to making said mistake, i.e. Wong teaching it to him.

And even if he learned it post, we've already pointed out Strange went through so many scenarios, slicing limbs would've been on the list and proven ineffectual since its so apparently obvious a move to try.
