Captain America replacement idea

Next time they decide to bring in a new Captain America do you think fans will be a little more forgiving if instead of depowering/killing/turning him into a traitor he got promoted to General America?

"General America" sounds like someone who'd have a distinctive mustache, wear some nice jackboots and probably require people to greet him with a special gesture while he's helping to make America great again.

Generally speaking, only characters at Colonel rank or below are treated as unambiguously heroic in fiction. That's because once you get above Colonel, you stop leading men into battle, and start using men as chess-pieces from behind a desk. Thus, Generals generally get the villainous or antihero treatment.

That actually would probably how they would turn him back to Cap eventually.

They had him as head of SHIELD for a while when he was an old man.  Not sure why they didn’t stck with that.

There was no official title promotion. He also got it because it is was basically a "desk job" for his old age.
