Yeah, I've been binging it on Netflix since I saw this thread. The only thing I can't stand is the laughtrack. How did laughtracks last so long? They are lame and annoying.

Frasier, like most sitcoms, is filmed before a live studio audience. The laughter isn't canned. It's meant to give a natural reaction to the jokes, helps the writers know what's funny, and isn't really inappropriate in a show like this. Canned laughs are more out of place in MASH or something.

Oh God- just remembered another moment:

Frasier's been dating the spitting image of his mother, leading to tons of jokes from Niles ("you really hit the MOTHER load!"). But then Martin walks in and sees her. His face really says it all. It's that combination of disbelief and all that shit coming back to him.

Daphne: "Am I the only one--"
Frasier/Martin: "No."
Daphne: "Does Dr. Crane have any idea?"
Frasier/Martin: "No."
Truten forever!

Another great Martin moment:

The gang are all telling their gross or most shocking stories. Roz is about to tell hers, but realizes that it's too much. Martin's all "Come on- I'm a cop. I've seen it all! Just whisper it to me, and I'll tell you if it's too far". So Roz giggles and whispers it to him. Immediately, without a sound, John Mahoney's eyes go wide as dinner plates, he shoots to his feet, speed-walks across the room with his awkward "cane-walk", and shoots her one last shocked, disgusted, horrified look before locking himself in his room. Absolutely priceless. His expression said more than words ever could have.
