Bane wouldn’t really be able to use Cap’s shield nearly as effectively as Cap.

Cap immediately snatches it back and shows him how it's done.

I feel as though Bane would discard it and fight the other man HTH. He'd look at the shield as a cheat.

Well, for someone who needs steroids and dirty tactics to fight Batman I'm not so sure.

Yeah, Bane is more of a scheming tactician than an honorable type.

Bane's changed over the years and I think his greatest fault in his own eyes is that he needs the Venom to beat Batman.

It's debatable whether he needed venom to defeat Batman in the original story. What he needed was one-sided prep to weaken Batman almost to the point of helplessness. Venom in that story wasn't even written as a big deal. Without it, he would still likely have won, because Bats was just done at that point. He desperately needed a long period of rest and recuperation. It was Bane's first discovering Wayne's identity and his scheme to completely exhaust Wayne that won that fight, not venom.

Not even close

Effectively, yes, but Cap's level?

Not on your fucking life.

Bane loses, but it'll look like he's about to win, and hey maybe he does win the short-term

Between unarmed Bane, Kingpin and Crossbones, I'd bet on Bane every time (barring more Spidey villain, earlier Fisk)

But ultimately their job isn't to win the war, but Bane has had a better parity with his hero than the other two

I think Bane could take him.  He's actually a solid fighter.  I'd liked that in the secret six they'd actually gotten away from Bane using Venom.

Oh agreed. But Bane even said it wasn't about fighting that Batman, but humiliating him. But I'm not talking about the original Bae, but the current, Nu52 - Rebirth version.

How I'd write it:

Bane's all cocky and tosses the shield w/ all his might. Foregoing evasion, Cap instead leaps right into its path whilst spinning mid-air to catch/redirect the shield, taking full advantage of all the momentum Bane put behind it. Whack, Bane is KTFO/tossed through some convenient window so he can retreat.
