So yeah, comics love animal based characters but for some reason, there are a lot of animals that have little to no characters based on them.

Are there any horse characters?  Those things are fast and strong, plus they look cool.

I think there is one elephant guy in Invincible but not much else.  I guess elephants look kinda goofy but I think it could work.

DC has Comet, as far as horses go.

They turned Comet into a horse-person?  That... actually works.

Peter David FTW.

In the tradition of Batman (one of the most famous animal themed characters of all time) there's also Kid Colt on the horse front:

Elephant wise, there's this from Image Comics. Never heard of it before now:

Two different ones have appeared in She-Hulk:

Marvel also has a mutant named Mammomax:

EDIT
Almost forgot DCs Mammoth:

This was pretty fun, thanks for helping me kill some time this morning, AP!

I don't really count Kid Colt or Mammoth as animal-based characters.  They have animals in their names, but they don't really have the motif.  It is good to see more elephants than I realized, though.

Scarab is a good name. Marvel has had the Scarlet Scarab, and there have been a few minor characters from independents with this name, but a villain based on the scarab beetle should be a major character.

I hope that comic included the line "Honey Badger don't give a shit" because otherwise, there's no purpose.
