I stopped reading the article after, "While Tarantino has always come up with his own original films."

Tarantino fans may argue it's out of homage but the amount of references he uses from old, obscure films doesn't make his films "original" to me.

Why?
Because Tarantino doesn't really make original films

He rips off movies nobodies heard of wholesale

While Tarantino technically rips off B, C, hell even F list movies, he uses them to craft A list stuff. He's like one of those guys who uses barnwood and driftwood to create awesome rustic furniture.

It’s not that far removed from George Lucas borrowing from multiple movies to create Star Wars.

Budget and actors

Reservoir Dogs is nearly a shot for shot remake of some obscure japanese movie and is what made him a star

Oh but he has snappy dialog

There was "snappy" dialogue in Inglorious Bastards that happened to be a word for word rip off from an old Cagney Western.

Pulp Fiction is one of my favourite movies, but Tarantino shouldn't even be mentioned in the conversation if you're going to take top 25 greatest directors

Well I probably can but a lot of them are going to much worse than QT.

Tarantino went from being possibly over rated, to being severely underrated.
