OK but even if you prioritize Americans over others because your from the same country, there are a lot of immigrants who were US citizens before this president who can be directly effect by his xenophobia.

On a xenophobia scale of 1 to 10, Trump calling Haiti a shithole barely registers. Is Trump calling for sanctions against Haiti? Is he asking for permission to invade Haiti? Are we going to conduct drone strikes against Haiti? Are we cutting diplomatic ties with Haiti?

Did Trump saying this shatter anyone's illusions of him as a great lover of Haiti?

I'm not defending what he said. It's crude and simplistic. And even if it was behind closed doors, he was still at work, with others, in a professional setting, not bullshitting with people in his personal life. But in the big picture on its own it is meaningless. There are so many more important things to focus time and energy on.

Again he's not just calling Haiti a shithole. He's equating the people to the quality of the country. He's questioning why we should take anyone from that country and that seems one step away from creating anti-shithole country policies.

And the thing is we can focus on everything since we actually can't actively change them. We can just make a list of grievances and use that as an argument as part of why he should be impeached/voted out.

And this IMHO is pretty good evidence to anyone who claims he isn't racist/xenophobic.

Because I’m an American, and because the American President governs over, is elected by, and is responsible to my fellow citizens. In America.

Yes but he makes foreign policy and this effect foreign policy. And saying that shit at a meeting discussuin forieng policy effect it...since ideally your suspose to be working shit out

Also guess it depends on what he consider Americans
Does he he consider the Daca people Americans. Past comments about anchors babies and stuff make me question that
Which by the way part of what they were talking about in the meeting. It not like he was with his friend at a Buffolo wild wings shooting the shit..and there for it has no stakes

Does he view Puetro Rico as Americans. His comment and response  to the crisis makes me question that

And as neo said this one more thing to ad to this guys probally a xenophone and racist.   Which going to affect how he govern Americans.

now it make some people say "meh we know he racist...whats a big deal"

Well then that just normalizing insane behavoir and that will effect presidents in the future.. I am holding this guy to the same standard as we would any other president

Are you serious?

Our government's been caught spying on every country in the world, as well as our own population. We've been drone striking the Middle East for the past 16 years. We've meddled in the internal affairs of countless countries, almost always to their detriment, and our own. Invaded Irag on a lie, then caused the deaths of 500,00 children because of an embargo. We arm violent groups of people who then get turned loose to do our bidding. We've allowed guns to be sold to the worst drug cartels in the world. We've blackmailed civil rights leaders. This is just off the top of my head.

A President calling a country a shithole in a private conversation does not get my jimmies rustled.

You have got to be joking. Absolutely nothing you just listed somehow validates or justifies what he said in any way, shape or form. Those things are independently shitty, and it's overwhelmingly reasonable to think "Hey, here is yet ANOTHER shitty thing." They're all worth caring about and calling a world leader out about.

Pretending otherwise is laughable, at best.

You keep saying "There are so many more important things!" like all the other things don't matter at all. They all matter. Words and actions all matter on the world stage.

When you get elected President, everything you say matters in some way because you are the figurehead of the US. If you say something stupid, it makes America look stupid. If you say something racist, it makes America look racist. If you say something to unite it tends to unite. If you say something to divide, it tends to divide.

Pretending "They're behind closed doors in a 'professional setting' so this is stuff that should be a secret!" is ridiculous. In what way should immigration reform be a secret?

Did you consider what you were saying at all or did you just get mad and type out random shit?

This isn't nuclear protocols or escorting a world leader from the airport to a military base where we're bombing somebody. This is stuff that most definitely belongs in the public eye and since the President is OUR EMPLOYEE, it's odd you want immigration reform kept secret in the first place. There is no national security justification involved here.

I think you need a new scale.  https://www.google.com/search?q=what+other+countries+think+of+Trumps+comments&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab  The reaction by the rest of the World very much says otherwise.

But, neo-nazis are glad to see he's on the same page as them.  http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-shithole-countries-neo-nazis-white-supremacists-celebrate-more-or-less-same-page-racist-a8157796.html

These guys are in total disagreement with you.
https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/01/12/577599691/racist-and-shameful-how-other-countries-are-responding-to-trumps-slur

And Norway says Nah. Get a new president though and it might happen.
http://www.dw.com/en/norwegians-decline-president-donald-trumps-offer-to-move-to-us/a-42129986

And Der Spiegel is pretty much right on the nail with this cover regarding Trump. http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/the-age-of-fire-and-fury-latest-der-spiegel-trump-cover-explained-a-1187633.html

I think it's important that we have a competent diplomatic leader who knows better.  And it's quiet relevant as it's very much a racist statement. He's focused on trying to keep Mexicans and Muslims out of the country. And despite the condition of Haiti The US has actually has a role in keeping it poor.

Here's some things to check out.

http://faculty.webster.edu/corbetre/haiti/misctopic/leftover/whypoor.htm

http://www.newsweek.com/reasons-behind-haitis-poverty-70801

http://www.nathanielturner.com/howusimpoverishedhaiti.htm

https://fee.org/articles/how-us-crop-dumping-keeps-haiti-poor-and-dependent/

And regardless of where he's at he shouldn't have said it at all.  Especially, when the US has had a large role in fucking over that country as we've done for other countries.  Trump recently asked a Korean female what she is.  Then said why don't we have her talk to the Koreans.  Just on the merit of her being Korean.

You're skipping over the sexist part of that exchange. She is an analyst and Trump said she should be an negotiator because she's pretty.

I just enjoy the fact that Trump's personal lawyer paying off a pornstar (to keep her quiet about an alleged encounter in 2006) just before the election is like, the 3rd biggest story of the week.

Yeah personally don't care that that's getting buried. That's some personal issues him and his wife need to deal with.
