Wasn't Belanna Torres from Voyager a negress?  Hard to tell with the Klingon makeup.

No, at least not fully. She also wasn't the lead.

This black chick is "Number 1" like Riker, correct?  Cause he wasn't a lead either.

But again I haven't seen this show yet so I dont have a clue what's up.

From what I read she is second in command like Riker but the the show focuses on her as the lead.

Well the captain does get killed in the 2nd episode so yeah she (No.1) seems to be the focus...

And I still find it odd that she's been given a male name.

Skip ahead to the 22 minute mark then after a couple of minutes jump to the 35:40 mark for hilarity.

I'm still having trouble admitting that I'd love to tongue-punch Michael's fart box.

Seriously I'm just more curious as to the reasoning/inspiration for naming her straight out, Michael.
Whether there was serious debate between writer/s & production crew or is it some distorted reasoning that a female is objectively playing a male role...?

Or maybe just tranny?

But he's a man and gender apparently beats race these days.

But, having the power of gender and race trumps that.

Sisko would backhand this cunt.  The guy was literally a divine being, as written in Jelly's prophecy.

Have you ever completely lost your shit when you discovered men have names like Kelly, Pat, Bobby, Chris, Sam, or Marion?
