I thought it was good.  Shows promise for future episodes.  Played up more of a sci fi theme than just flat out comedy.

yeah I got like 10 minutes left and its ok. The most surprising part is how good it looks. The special effects are top notch.

I was thinking the same.  Like it would be nice if we got a modern Star Trek series that looked this good.

I liked it more than i thought i would.
Decent pilot, really.
Got my interest. Humor didnt seemed too forced. The dialogue was surprisingly accurate as to what you hear in the Military.

I like how they use shuttles to go planet side.
The effect that was deemed too expensive for the original Star Trek, which led to them to inventing the transporter.

I'll give MacFarlane props.
This show has been a lot...more than i thought it would be. I was expecting an endless series of dick and fart jokes. In space.

The Sci-Fi part seems a little weak, and the comedy doesn't slide in as seamlessly as they hoped it would. But.. a lot of shows need a season or two to get their legs under them. I'll stick for now.

For me it clicks on both counts. The sci fi's solid if by the numbers, and the humor isnt being overdone.
I hope it gets renewed, because i'd love to see it get its legs under, like you said, and get even better.

The third episode was some really good social commentary and the ending was actually a bit of a surprise.

I'm glad it ended that way, storywise.

So Orville is basically the Star Trek show and the New Star Trek is Star Wars.

Pretty much, yeah. Discovery has simple, pure evil villains, lots of fighting and explosions, and the hero is also a reckless rebel.

The Orville has complicated antagonists, and mostly uses diplomacy peppered with occasional violence.

No idea if the actors on this show are improving, but it works for me.
The back & forth seems natural.
This week's episode was enjoyable, with good character moments throughout.
While Star Trek would have 'Prime Directive'-ed the hell out of that situation, i didnt mind the straightforward manner in which things resolved.

Theyre pulling out some surprising guest appearances, too.
