Didn't Etrigan went toe-to-toe with the Spectre during Ostander's amazing run? Iirc Phantom Stranger needed Etrigan as he was the only one strong enough to delay the Eclipso'd Spectre for his Shadow Pact (pre) to cast a spell.

Guys, Etrigan is a standard top tier class 100 in terms of how hard he can hit and what damage he can take.

His hellfire is sometimes a top tier blast; sometimes it's a metaphysical attack on your soul.

Etrigan's other powers are more inconsistently used. He did use his mage powers (transmutation) to briefly dominate and trap Lobo. Of course, Lobo then telepathically called his motorcycle, which clocked Etrigan from behind for a brief KO.

You would think that Etrigan had the potential to tap into above top tier power, given his connection to Hell. But based on how he's usually portrayed in superhero fights, I think Magneto has a comfortable edge. It may be a different story if you got a writer like Byrne who really portrays the hellfire as purely metaphysical.

If only Magneto is portrayed any better than Etrigan on average. His stock has fallen considerably since 90s.

So a speeding space bike to the back of the head can KO Etrigan?

Like

A big chunk of metal, traveling at high speeds? Which is what a space bike is

A bike's totally got moving parts.  ???

That seems a Magneto tactic though.
How it'd work without Lobo's cartoonish aura is the question.

Magneto has overloaded and beat Shaw through brute force

Only other time I can think of that working on Shaw was when Henry Leland geometrically increased Shaw's mass and was dropped from orbit onto Nimrod

So probably by being able to do that and not needing to be Bugs Bunny

The misconception here is soo bad that it is like reading another book.

Lobo used his chains and meat hook on Etrigan and it did crap. Etrigan was knocked out shortly after the bike overturned (Lobo commanded the bike from a distance) then slammed or dumped Etrigan at high speed to the ground like a missile. It is not the bike that rammed and briefly KOd Etrigan. It was the high speed impact.

Then Etrigan stood up and a punchfest occured again between the Main Man and him until they decided to team up instead.

Thats impressive, but Shaw does have limits.
I think Namor did the same thing to him with just his fists. Saw the can at KMC some time ago.
Just saying that as a measuring stick its definitely not a bad feat, but not a close thread feat either.

Is he also going to surprise Etrigan? Because Etrigan fought Lobo to a double KO in the next issue.

How many times are you going to milk that?

Shaw doesn't has any particularly good record against anyone remotely impressive. Heck Storm put him into coma with a lightning blast.

He has better feats against Superman, Wonder Woman, Solomon Grundy (powerful enough to defeat Amazo in that incarnation), Alan Scott etc.

Magneto has one feat against Shaw and one with Havok which you use in every thread.

How is Etrigan ever going to compete?

He has better feats against Superman,
Superman socked Etrigan to the moon.

Great showing, all agreed.

Wonder Woman,
I'm not familiar with this, but I have zero expectations.
Quote
Solomon Grundy (powerful enough to defeat Amazo in that incarnation)
See Wonder Woman
Quote
Alan Scott etc.
See Wonder Woman.

Etrigan doing okay against Magneto's peers sure is a nice shot in the arm for him losing to Magneto.

How is Etrigan ever going to compete?
There's two pro Etrigan people not saying much.

And another who realizes Etrigan can compete, but probably won't gain the majority.

Which is Etrigan's best case scenario, and one I'm okay with.

I think this is an okay fight. But not a great one.

And Magneto is the clear favourite.
