How do you feel now with the draft over?

I don't like it. The reasoning a lot of analysts gave for not drafting Fultz is bullshit considering we drafted Tatum. Yes the Celtics have a ton of point guards. Nut we also have a ton of small forwards, including last years number 3 pick Jaylen Brown.

In my opinion, and I understand it's not popular? The Celtics should let Isaiah Thomas walk. he is is not a max player. Although he gives a ton of effort and then some, he is one of the worst defensive players in the NBA. He can get you to the dance, but he can't win it for you. He's diet Allen Iverson, he won't win you a championship. Marcus Smart does everything else really well. Dynamite defender, rebounder, great physicality, but he can't shoot to save his life and he isn't a special finisher at the rim. Just average. So many people think he will finally turn the corner, but I doubt it. I think he will basically end up like Tony Allen. A defensive specialist, but the Celtics have a ton of those, we need scorers and facilitators. Rozier? Eh.

With Amir Johnson gone, maybe they will play Crowder at the 4 a lot so both Tatum and Brown can get on the court, because they need minutes to develop. I don't fucking know. Before Ainge fucked up and traded away number 1. My vision for the Celtics was this. we draft Fultz and trade away IT. Give Bradley a new deal (he gets hurt a lot, I know. But his defense and 3 pt shooting is so valuable) Keep Smart, let Rozier go, let Crowder go. Sign Gordon Hayward and have Jaylen Brown back him up. Wait a year and use that '18 BK pick to draft Michael Porter Jr to be a small ball 4, or draft Ayten as a 3 pt shotting Center or Bamba as a rim protector. But nooooo.

Any opinions on the new trades and what Boston should do?

The East is getting more depleted by the day.

Ainge blew it. After we one the first pick, I was perfectly content with the Celtics not blowing their load and trading for superstars. I wanted them to draft Fultz, sign Gordon Hayward and stand pat. I don't think Hayward and George together is enough to beat the Warriors. MAYBE the Cavs in a tight one. Lets just see where the BK pick lands in '18. Hope its top 3, where we could guarantee ourselves a good center finally if the incoming freshman NCAA projections hold true. But he traded down. Supposedly considered Tatum the better prospect (which I don't buy for a fucking second, I'm supposed to trust this guys player assessment when he has drafted a million 1st rounders and none have made an all-star team? in the EAST no less. Get the fuck out of here). That told me he was looking for more assets to trade for an other star to pair with Hayward to "win now". But then he didn't complete a trade for ANYONE. And stars were getting traded for literally nothing.

So now here is the problem. Everyone who could move via trade, except Carmelo Anthony (NO DANNY NO) has been moved. Phil Jackson is gone so Kristaps Porzingis ain't going nowhere. And the Pelicans have no reason to move Anthony Davis until at least 2019. So dumb ass Danny Ainge is sitting on a pile of assets with nothing to trade them for. He can't make all the picks, because there literally isn't enough space on the team to fit all the picks. Only options I see for him is using he picks to trade UP in next year's draft for a shot at number 1 and Michael Porter Jr (who is a 6'10 sweet shooting SF so it will be redudant). But that's it. And if Hayward doesn't sign with us? Ainge completely screwed the pooch.

Ainge is so fucking overrated as a GM it's ridiculous.

I have no fucking idea what the Rockets are doing.

They're going to lose in the semi's or CF's every year. Chris Paul does not move the needle at all. The Warriors are going to crush the Rockets every single year.

Honestly, we're going to need Shaq 2.0 to end the Warriors dominance.

Either that or have Kawhi join the Sixers along with Anthony Davis to form the goddamned Justice League.

It sort of does. D'Antoni would probably stagger Paul's and Harden's minutes. Paul is capable of doing the exact same things Harden was doing in D'Antoni's offense last year, and is a better defender to boot. Rockets were insanely productive when Harden was on the floor and eh when he wasn't. Basically with Paul and Harden there now, "Harden" would almost never be off the floor and that offense is coming at you all night long.

is it enough to beat the Warriors? No. You'd need a specially constructed team to beat them. Lebron, Kawhi, Chris Paul, and good stretch 4 could pull it off.

Is this trade going to make us have civil discourse again in over a year? Lordt.

Im fine with it. IT needed to go. He is not worth the max. Kyrie is more talented, and I would like to see what he can do and what upside he has with the 1st good coach in his entire career. Zizic can go. Losing Crowder sucks, but I'm good with it because Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum need minutes. The BK pick hurts...but it was that or Tatum/Brown. Non starter. Just crossing my fingers and hoping the LA pick land 2-5 and we can pick up Ayton or Michael Porter Jr

Kyrie is an excellent player. No argument there. I hate losing IT, and I hate losing the BK pick.

But my hatred of losing IT has more to do with what he (and Bradley) represented rather than who they are as players, if that makes sense. One thing I always loved about Boston was that they were an organization/city/team that always felt more like a family in that they had guys who were just straight up #Ibleedgreen Celtics through and through, and kept them there for the long haul. Guys like Pierce, KG, Russell, Bird, IT and Bradley to a lesser extent, and Ainge himself just straight up represented Celtics basketball and the city itself. They were loyal to the club, and the club and the city were loyal to them. So I guess my real complaint is that it seems like Ainge is moving the organization away from that dynasty feel, in order to get more wins. Its a personal gripe, even though I'm glad that this will probably result in a few more wins.

My romanticized notions of the game aside, it was a good move

I do feel like this team is leaderless now. All of the celtics vets are gone now. Only four guys are left from last year's team, which is crazy.

Prime should be happy. Celtics are playing great on pace to win 70 games.
