This game looks fun but really, really easy.

Gameplay is on pair with the modern Mario's. The main story isn't easy per session just really quick to get through. From the looks of it there is a lot of post game content.

A lot of stuff IS really easy. Then you find something that looks easy and you realize you spent 45 minutes dying repeatedly while still trying to get a single moon in a secret area.

Yeah usually when someone is saying a Mario game is too easy, they just squeaked by with enough to “beat” the game then stopped

This would be my first Mario game since Super Mario World, which I played the shit out of. It sounds like subsequent games were more along the lines of this one where the difficulty depended on how much exploration you do?
