question on Flat Earthers
« on: May 17, 2017, 09:31:24 AM »
I'm hoping one of you guys know off the top of your heads because I don't feel like looking it up. Do they have an explanation we we went from believing the Earth was flat to the Earth being round? Its one thing to get everyone to believe a lie when there was no explanation before. Its got to be super fucking hard to get someone to believe a lie when the truth has always been widely established.

I figure the realization came from people having the ability to actually travel and circumnavigate the globe, rather than "falling off the edge of the world" into an abyss of monsters. The advancement of science plays/played a large role, unless you're just a willfully ignorant goober.

yeah I know thats the real reason, plus mathematics, why we figured out the truth. I'm wondering what explanation flat earthers use to explain how we went from "the truth" (the earth is flat) to a "lie" (the earth is round).

I don't think you answered what he asked, unless I'm misunderstanding one of you.

Neo is asking "Why do Flat Earthers think that the Round Earth theory caught on and became the norm if everyone already believed the actual truth (that the Earth is flat) for CENTURIES?"

I don't have an answer to it, though.

yeah thats its. The round earth theory had everything going against it. It was directly opposing a long standing belief backed by religion. It being a lie would make it extra difficult to convince people.

Spherical Earth Theory has been around since 6th Century BC at MINIMUM. That's the earliest probable, documented case. There are instances suggesting the theory goes back even further.

Anybody thinking the Earth is flat today is a legitimate fucking moron. Full stop. No exceptions.

in a nutshell, we can't get past the ice wall that surrounds the edge of the earth, what we know as Antarctica.

At least, no one who's tried has ever returned.....

"The world looks flat, the bottoms of clouds are flat, the movement of the sun; these are all examples of your senses telling you that we do not live on a spherical heliocentric world."

Yeah, people have known the Earth was round far longer than most realize.

I love how they say gravity doesn't exist. The Earth is constantly being pulled up by "aetheric wind".
