Calling it that The Mummy and Valerian both don't get much in the way of interest or returns.

Yeah, even though the Mummy has Cruise, I don't see it doing well.  It's a shame since I kinda want to see a modern Universal Monster Universe for some reason.

Can you clearly define "flop" because you know people are going to have different definitions. There's no chance The Mummy is getting MCU numbers, but it could make a few hundred million worldwide. If the budget is 200 million (I have no idea what it actually is and I'm not checking before I finish this post) and it makes roughly 400 million worldwide, it could be considered a weak summer blockbuster.
See: Pacific Rim

I guess for me its something that doesn't bring the numbers the studio is hoping for or has really bad word of mouth on it (granted bad word of mouth has never hurt the Transformers franchise) or both.

I'm actually kinda excited for The Mummy. It looks like some weird hybrid of a Mission Impossible movie and legit horror.

But yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it flops

I'll watch both Mummy and King Arthur. Looks like good mindless fun, and amazing ICT fuel

King Arthur and the new Pirates, though the latter will probably do well globally

I don't think it will bomb, but I have the feeling that Alien: Covenant wprobably won't reach the high totals Fox is looking for.
