Caught an early screening -
Will wait for opening day before spoilers.
General thoughts: At first I considered myself a traitor for really not liking this one at all, it took about an hour for me to get into it. In the opening, Dom was dumb, Hobbs had become a sitcom dad (toothless was the old testament beat). The rest of the crew showed up as caricatures of themselves. But it settled into a bombastic groove as time went on. Kurt Russel still steals every scene he's in and Scott Eastwood while played as chump has enough of his dad in him to have an edge. Statham and the Rock battle to 1UP throughout and somehow develop a bromance of machismo bordering on Rocky III or Roadhouse levels. - In a better world, this movie starred just them. Anyway, it ends world's better than it starts, so It's true what they say, " It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning."
Not all perfect though, there's some plane hi-jinks near the end that had me rolling my eyes for how tone breaking they were. And my heart has left the series along with another character's graceful bowing out, still a world of fun, laughs and "Ohhh-Ahhh" moments of brutality from the Rock and Statham!
Oh and Brian is briefly addressed, about as well as they could. So props to them for not sweeping it under the rug.
