If he wasn't holding Seoul hostage I'd say risk some refugees and chaos. That regime is a cancer, and cancer needs to be cut out. Unfortunately, he's got enough firepower to take Seoul with him to the grave, and Seoul contains half the population of South Korea.

Kim Jong Un has now said that if a single bullet hits North Korea, he will nuke America. Analysts don't believe he has the capability but with this crazed loon who knows what would happen. You can't apply logical thinking to illogical people.

His threats against America are likely bullshit. But since he has half the population of our most loyal friend in Asia as a hostage, does it matter? Provoking him into nuking Seoul is not an option.

You are using the term "hostage" way too liberally.

China sends warning to North Korea not to mess with US

Quote
China issued a blunt warning to North Korea on Wednesday — telling its belligerent ally to not conduct nuclear weapons or missile tests, or it was likely to face military action by the US.

“Not only [is] Washington brimming with confidence and arrogance following the missile attacks on Syria, but Trump is also willing to be regarded as a man who honors his promises,” said the People’s Daily, the ruling Communist Party’s official paper.

North Korea should halt any plans for nuclear and missile tests “for its own security,” the newspaper said, making it clear that the US would not “co-exist” with a nuclear-armed Pyongyang.

It basically true.  China intervention is low but if we attack NK there gonna send every thing they have at Seoul and burn it to the ground.  That the biggest thing keeping us from doing anything.

Satellite photos show North Korean nuclear site 'primed and ready'

Quote
(CNN)North Korean monitoring service 38 North said Wednesday the country's Punggye-ri nuclear site is "primed and ready" for a sixth nuclear test.

"The activity during the past six weeks is suggestive of the final preparations for a test," 38 North analyst Joseph Bermudez told CNN.

Some believe this will happen today, a day after China warned North Korea not to mess with the US

Gotta give it!  Nk isn't a bunch of guerilla style mercenaries.
And I can see something popping off tonight or tomorrow.

China fears North Korea-US conflict 'at any moment'

Quote
China has warned that "conflict could break out at any moment" as tension over North Korea increases.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi said if war occurred there could be no winner.
Mr Wang's comments come as the US voices increasing concern at North Korea's development of nuclear weapons and deploys a Navy carrier group off the Korean peninsula.
China, North Korea's only backer, fears conflict could cause the regime to collapse and problems on its border.
Mr Wang said: "One has the feeling that a conflict could break out at any moment.
"I think that all relevant parties should be highly vigilant with regards to this situation."
"We call on all parties to refrain from provoking and threatening each other, whether in words or actions, and not let the situation get to an irreversible and unmanageable stage."
Adding to Chinese unease, President Donald Trump said on Thursday that "the problem of North Korea" would be "taken care of".

Quote
"If China decides to help, that would be great. If not, we will solve the problem without them! U.S.A."-Donald Trump on twitter

Quote
The North Korean military responded on Friday by saying it would "mercilessly foil" any US provocation.
"Our toughest counteraction against the U.S. and its vassal forces will be taken in such a merciless manner as not to allow the aggressors to survive," read a statement from the army, reported in English by North Korea's official news agency, KCNA.

That's what makes it a much easier war.

Larger, more specific targets, an enemy with a "god" that can be killed.

Probably go like Desert Storm back in the day, sans Seol getting nuked anyways.....
