Characters you just want to punch (and not just from comics)
« on: March 23, 2017, 11:14:51 PM »
This isn't really for the irredeemably evil characters that you want to kill and send to Hell for all their crimes.  This is for characters that just rub you the wrong way.  They can even be good guys.  But something about them--and maybe you don't even know what, exactly--gets under your skin so much.

Who would you list?

Any character played by Adrian Brody

All four main characters on Seinfeld. I hate them all and I hate the show. I also realize that it's seen as one of the funniest of all time.
Almost every episode is either one of them wanting some ridiculous advantage over everyone else or being outraged that someone else has an advantage they don't.
   Sleeping at work
   Handicapped toilet stall
   Parking space
Not getting credit for tipping or buying someone's lunch
    Whatever
The whole show is based on selfishness and jealousy.
'cause justice is the one thing you should always find.

Yeah, the point of Seinfeld was that they were all complete assholes.  They were never meant to be likeable.

I get that I'm in the minority, and most people think the show is genius, but I want to beat the characters to death with a tire iron.

Phoebe from Friends ... an arsehole who never does anything for anyone but all the other characters think she's hilarious because she's zany.

Good call.

I found Rachel even worse though.  Phoebe was just a bitch but Rachel would go out of her way to fuck with peoples' lives and then try to play the victim afterwards or pass it all off as being a free spirit.

Ross was also a immature pussy who couldn't get over himself.  I wanted to punch him too.

I wanted to punch Chandler for the same reason, plus he wasn't nearly as funny as he thought he was.

Also, Monica got on my nerves at times too.

So really, I hate all the Friends except Joey.

We never saw Ross' son in later episodes, right? Did they move? Did Ross cut ties?

Reminds me of the final Happy Days, when the whole gang is together and someone says, "wait, where's Chuck?", the Cunningham brother who vanished after season two and was never mentioned again.

And Family Matters, where the Winslows' youngest child, Judy, just vanished with no explanation after a few seasons.  It was a running joke in my family near the end of the show.

The same goes for their grandmother and the aunt (although her kid stuck around somehow).

I like the meme for Happy Days that says Chuck died tragally in the Korean War and that's why no one in the family talks about him.

That was actually an outtake. Tom Bosley was just being funny.
