It had potential to develop his character. We may see it, but don't hold your breath.

Danny was raised by warrior monks who don't know how to interact with real people. Danny's only experience doing so was as a child, so his immaturity and naivete make sense.

His childhood friend Davos seemed pretty well adjusted to people/society.

Well apart from attacking a food vendor & tormenting him...

Davos was also ready to kill Danny once they stopped being friends and he wigged out a little in Claire's apartment, which was what clued her in to the weird ways in which the K'un L'un monks taught the boys to bury their feelings.

Which is why all the conflict Danny struggles with about his duty to destroy the Hand and guard K'un-Lin? It doesn't work as the season goes on. Because we never see any significant backstory about his training in the mystic city... nothing to make us care for the warrior monks... and what we do hear makes them sound crazy and possibly evil themselves. Why does the city need protecting? Why is the city so important if it just shows up once every 15 years and has no real interaction with Earth? Are they really abusing the kids?

The Netflix audience knows the Hand are evil, but they know nothing about K'un-Lun... and this show paints K'un-Lun as a city of arrogant man-children. Which makes it seem like Danny would be retarded to ever consider going back to them.
9 outta 10 Masters are Master.

Um, no he wasn't. At all. They kind of made that a point, as AP said.

.

I stopped watching after episode 10 so I'm only commenting on when he rescued Danny.

Why is the city so important if it just shows up once every 15 years and has no real interaction with Earth?

Also how did Davos get to Earth if the gate only opens every 15 years?

I mean wouldn't Danny have seen him if they used the gate at the same time?
Then there's the several weeks difference when Davos finally turns up...?

Dude the gate stays open for a certain period.  That was shit they explained in Davis' first appearance.

Yeah of the gate only opened for a few seconds there really isn't a reason to have your top fighter guarding it.

Yeah okay...

This is definitely one Marvel series I watched with a very cynical pov.
