I think people are just pissed about finding a high damage weapon and finding out its base durability i.e. how many hits you get before it breaks is roughly similar to much weaker weapons

Against a white mane Lynel, that has 4k HP, you can expect to burn through 4-5 really good weapons

But you can also upgrade your available weapon/bow/shield slots

Like I say, it's incredibly well balanced, but a lot of people are gpnna bitch no matter what

Games get really fucking weird and put realism in the silliest places.

"Look guys, weapon aren't forever. You can't just hit the same sword off things forever... it will break! That's how life works. So with our new system, you can deal with the difficulty of the real world by having to maintain and find new weapons when your old ones break. we are dedicated to making our games feel real and have real-life situations and implications. Oh, and by the way... here's a large fox enemy. You have to shoot it with 250 bullets or use 10 explosive devices to kill it. You know. Like real foxes".

It is. It's LoZ & Skyrim's rock climbing baby. It's fucking great. I tend to do the same shit I did with Skyrim.

I'll search out for all of the Shrines, though. I've done 40 or so at this point.

Are there the typical RPG stats in this game, like strength, wisdom, etc? Do you level up?

I used to like Elder Scrolls style stats, and I guess I still do, but it seems like character creation plays such a huge role in those games, such as using skills you DON'T need to level up, avoiding leveling too quickly, etc.

You don't really level up.  You go to shrines and put the "points" into more hearts or more stamina.  Which is guess in a way could be considered leveling up.

Yeah but that sounds a lot simpler than the massive character planning that goes into an Elder Scrolls game (and that's not a bad thing.)

Well the Zelda games were never rpgs. They were adventure games. You'd advance by getting new equipment and more life and that's it.

I know it's less of an issue in Skyrim than Oblivion, which was less of an issue than in Morrowind.
Point distribution is gone entirely in Skyrim

Racial perks is the only thing worth considering

Yeah I'm blurring different ES games together. But even in Skyrim, there are some weird things to consider. Like if you increase your non-combat skills too quickly without increasing some combat skills, you could level up too much and you'd get your ass kicked. Or something like that.

Started playing this on Saturday morning. Pretty great so far. It's weird not having a Dodge Roll available.

Being able to climb 99% of the world is a good trade-off, but removing the Dodge Roll seems unnecessary.

I think they took it out because they want you to focus on combat target dodging and countering attacks.
