Given the ending, it may have jumped in the finale.

Hell, the last 20 seconds or so.

I've never heard that before.
I wonder how they were going to go on from that point.

Sam was supposed to be able to control where he leaped or something to that effect

That would have been nice.
Get him back home, open up the cast and concept. Might have reinvigorated the show for a few more years.

Wasn't that implied in the final episode anyways that he could go back any time he wanted?

Or he could go "back" to the time line that was currently there, didn't he have a wife that he had never met because of all the damage he had done to the time line over the years?

Before i (tried to) answer that, i did some Googling, as my memory is shitty thanks to my TBI/PTSD, and all i "recall" was a sense of "meh" about the finale.

https://www.google.com/amp/uproxx.com/tv/the-series-finale-that-helped-us-cope-with-the-lost-finale-and-every-other-disappointing-finale-since/amp/?client=safari

HJ was right about it not being an actual finale, but damn if it still wasnt pretty awful.
My idea above of what it might have become wasnt where it was seemingly headed at all, either.

In the end though, for me it boils down to, Sam never went home. And he deserved to.

Yeah from what I remember they made it pretty clear he never went home.

It would be a real trip if they dropped a miniseries or tv movie to wrap things up.

^^^I'm glad; i know folks who liked it, but just as many if not more, who didnt.

It would be a real trip if they dropped a miniseries or tv movie to wrap things up.
Oh heck yeah. I'd watch that.

Well, I was young when I first saw it, so it probably didn't register to me that it was a bad ending. To me, that's just the way the story was supposed to end.

I gotcha.

I really hate when shows dont give me closure; i like to think my characters have made out okay.

I'd rather have no closure, and make up my own happy ending, then a depressing ending.

I'd rather just not have the depressing ending.
