Back To The Future
« on: October 26, 2016, 04:30:41 AM »

Has anyone else been reading this?  One of the original writers from the movies is co-plotting and it's great.  The latest issue, #13, is a good place to start; it's starting a new story that actually addresses some of the philosophical implications that were inherent, but undiscussed, in the original film trilogy.

With his dad more self-confident, and the McFly family having a better life, Marty is discovering that not all his memories add up with this new timeline; he and Jennifer have two different recollections of how they started dating, for example; and what about the other Marty that he saw vanish from the mall at the end of the movie?  What about him?  He's starting to worry about all this, and it's getting very interesting.

This had been on my radar and I had forgotten about, but thanks for the reminder! I've heard nothing but good things about this series and the films remain my favorite movie trilogy of all time!

First i'm hearing of this series.
Sounds intriguing.
There was a Hill Valley mention on MTv's Teen Wolf a couple years ago. Always hoped the concept would get adapted into a show there, and this comic sounds like it might be what i was imagining.

Just read the 13 issue:

Minor spoilers so:

Don't know why but it never occurred to me before about the concept of time travel being "blasphemous" and in a sense going against God's plan.

But once it got pointed out it kind of seemed like an obvious thing.

^^^Quantum Leap did a Halloween episode that went the other way; satan showed up and asked Sam what gave him the right to travel time putting right all the things he'd worked to make wrong.
My fave ep.

You're not supposed to mention that episode.

Maybe a jumping the shark kind of thing?

Though there were also the episodes with that angel and a ghost, another where Sam was a vampire.....so yeah.

I don't remember exactly, but when it first aired there was blackouts or power outages or something. And it seemed to happen every time that episode aired, so they stopped airing it, and fans wouldn't mention that episode by name.

Funky.
I watched it when it originally aired and at least a few more times after when i lived in NYC. Never knew about the stigma attached to it!

Well; you know it was the 80's and Christianity was still a thing back then.

I wouldn't call those "jumping the shark" episodes. Every TV series does a Halloween episode or two and they don't follow normal continuity, anymore than having Santa show up on Christmas.
