Tom King's Batman - I Am Bane Arc! UPDATE-FINALE!
« on: October 20, 2016, 02:20:10 AM »
So Batman with clearance from Amanda Waller forms a SS out of Arkham inmates (Bronze Tiger, Selena Kyle, the Ventriloquist, Punch) to attack Bane's prison-turned fortress of Pena Duro. Bane is using Psych Pirate to combat his own demons but Batman needs the pirate too fix Gotham Girl.

The opening issue is Batman going through Arkham recruiting the Squad with little character set pieces introducing them. This felt like an 80's action movie in the best way. The art is also tops.

King's Batman is great. It's too bad the last couple of issues were sidetracked due to a crossover event written by... I can't remember.

The art on this arc is just gorgeous.

Here's a preview, showing the current version of Bronze Tiger. It's brief but I already like this take on him, and his relationship with Batman. As one reviewer put it, Bronze Tiger is back to being "a good man in a bad place."

This is a Batman who isn't going out every night breaking bones to satisfy some blood lust and get revenge for the deaths of his parents. It's a Batman who uses his personal tragedy as inspiration to go out and help people, without being a pushover and still intimidating people when he needs to. This and Deathstroke are jsut killing it right now.

Picked it up yesterday.  This looks like it's going to be a nice story.

Yeah, the "Night of the Monster Men" crossover was some of the worst Morrisson-like Batmangod writing ever. I hate the idea of Batman becoming an institution.

To riv: Batman's mission makes a lot more sense in relation to King's first Batman arc; he feels responsible for Gotham Girl especially after what happened for her brother.

To Letters: It's the regular title.

Pretty sure Bronze Tiger has matched/beaten Batman in previous continuity too.

Looks markedly below here in a sparring match, dodges two blows and taken down in one move

I highly doubt Batman was taking that as anything other than gauging where Bronze Tiger was at.

I'm getting some serious Neo flashbacks.

Exactly. It wasn't a serious fight and it's not like BT is some lame.

So now you've gone from Neo to RIV?
