A little bit, yeah. Between him and Arseface, you really gotta pay attention!

I'm really liking this. I think the characters are more enjoyable than their comic book versions, I'm ashamed to say.

Odin Quincannon was a ridiculous goof in the comic. He wasn't scary at all. But the TV version is far more intimidating.

Jesse is more three-dimensional. Cassidy is funnier. Tulip is hotter.

Agreed on all points MTL... Except it's been so long since I read the comic that I don't remember this Odin fella.

Cassidy is the highlight of the show for me. Like Jesse a lot as well, but Casidy is my personal fav. Also like how Casidy considers Jessie to be more dangerous than him in a fight even w/o the word.

I'm not, on account of it's just kinda average so far, even ignoring huge differences in character and motivation and structure and such. Like we're only 3 in but already, how many times do Jesse & Tulip have to have the same discussion?

I will agree that Quincannon seems like he'll be better here, whereas he represented the low point of the book.

I wouldn't say Cassidy is funnier than in the book, though, that's for sure, even if he does remain my favorite character.

Odin Quincannon is the town rich guy who owns the slaughterhouse. In the comic, he was written and drawn like he was comic relief, which he pretty much was. He was never any threat to Jesse, and really served as a motivating factor for him to stop wallowing in self-pity after he found out that Cass and Tulip were shacking up. He was a deviant, but in a gross-out comical way. I.e. his defining feature was he would make love to a sex doll made up of various cow parts. Yeah, that is what Ennis does when he doesn't have an editor.

The Odin Quincannon of the show is far more menacing. The dude watches movies of people being tortured, then follows it up by listening the the audio feed from his slaughterhouse. He has the attitude about him that if anyone irritates him, he'd have no problem processing them in the slaughterhouse. He is creepy as fuck. He also doesn't look like a pipsqueak, like the comic version.

Cassidy had legit super-strength in the comic, but it seems in the show his strength isn't amped. I think that's a good change. I agree he's a highlight. Joseph Gilgun is a great actor.

Shocked at how good this is.

Yup.

Don't like how everything taking place in one town.  If they don't leave I'm done.  Already not liking all the changes they made.  Dammit I've become one of those.

I like it a lot, but I was never a huge fan of the comic.

That cow in episode one would highly disagree with your assessment of Cassidy's strength.

True. I don't think they are being as precise with Cassidy's strength level as most battle boards would like... And I'm perfectly fine with that.

Yeah, I don't think it's battleboard quantifiable. He's probably as strong as necessary. We'll see him fluctuate a lot.

I forgot about the cow.
Yeah, this seems like strength as the story demands.

Same, each week I think I like it a bit less, and I wasn't too stoked after the pilot.

Last episode was pretty fun.
I should have known Cassidy was pulling some kind of con.
Jesse's running around in his own little world right now; his reality check is going to be hard to cash.

Last episode: The thing with St. Of Killers backstory at the start--first something like having to leave the next morning is too soon.. The thanks he gets for trying to do the right thing only to get so utterly fucked... It was intense.

Kind of baffled by what Tulip is thinking this episode. Is she playing Cassidy?
