I thought the spin around and counteract the tornado thing was a little hokey. After it failed the first time I was hoping he would just power through it and punch him in the face.

Overall I liked it though.

Yondu is definitely a villain. His crew of space hillbillies are thieves and murderers. He has a soft spot for Quill, but he was 100% going to kill him to get the orb.

A person doesn't have to a psycho terrorist or serial killer to be a villain.

He wasn't going to kill Quill.  The smile at the end showed he wasn't too put out about losing the orb.

I figured he was in a no win situation. He was standing there in front of his men, he had a reputation to keep, he couldn't come off as weak. He had to do something to show he was in charge. At the end when he opens it up and sees the troll he smiles because he realizes Peter gave him a way out. In the eyes of his men he got what he wanted, he was able to save face.

name one thing he did that was outside of rogue grey area territory and in straight villain territory.

The title is misleading.

Is it "Gone Girl" - a girl who is missing?

Or "Gone girl" - a woman being told that someone else is gone?

Or "Gone Girl" - the story of a antihero who makes people disappear?

As in that Girl has gone off the deep end.

Eh... He was kinda? I mean he was hunting down Starlord and until he managed to convince Yondu not to kill him for the sake of shit loads of profit, he seemed bent on killing him.
It MIGHT be their regular repertoire because Yondu's speech seemed like Quill heard it too much already, but in the context of the story he's not a good guy.
He's a Captain Barbossa.

Anyway, I thought it was a fun movie, I'm just not sure it was an "excellent" movie. I certainly laughed nearly every 5 to 10 minutes, but I feel like I can't judge it until I see it again, 'cause I'm not sure that (for me) the jokes would work again on repeated viewings. It's definitely solid though.

I don't think he really was a villain nor do I think he was actually going to kill Quill. I think he actually cared for him in an "I'm gonna abuse you for your own good" hillbilly dad kind of way.

Yeah the Fitz reveal made me go "Woah" and now I'm trying to figure out whether he knows he's talking to himself on some level, or is completely unaware.

I also liked the Absorbing Man, he was nice and ruthless, and I believe, the first real name villain to pop up on the show? (Aside from Deathlok, 'natch, but Absorbing Man is more well known)

Also I like the British guy. I hope he sticks around.

I think he's aware. The two big clues were the fact he was trying to ignore her when they first showed them together and then later when he was examining the sample they got off of Absorbing Man at it changed back to human flesh he was so excited that May also saw the change showing he knows he's been seeing things.
