Something else that I noticed about this movie that was interesting: Thor wanted total revenge on Thanos and was out for blood.  Typically, this sort of thing is seen as bad in the superhero genre.  The hero is later told something along the lines of "If you kill him, you'll be just like him" and the hero backs down form killing the villain.  Here, Thor's vengeance is seen as heroic and him trying his damndest to kill Thanos is a good thing.

I get the feeling that they've killed quite a bit in the Marvel U. It's mostly done in a way you can't tell. In Age of Ultron after the opening scene where they attack the Hydra base, Thor tells Bruce that there are many people dinning in Valhalla because of him.

Just the way they fight, you would expect there to be causalities.  I think the team is okay with it if it's all part of the actual combat, but when you get to a moment when the person is beaten, they frown upon being an executioner.

Then you have the 'Aliens' tactic used by Peter and Tony on Ebony Maw.

Plus I would expect this from Thor, just based on his history as an Asgardian Death to him is different than most.

That happened to me. Was reading an article on the box office and then read the comments and bam, nothing but spoilers. Not even a buffer sentence. The first sentence was a spoiler.

Thanos: Hunh. I hadn't thought of that.

Strange: Right there with you.

That's why I like the obsession with Death over this one. Though I just re read some old Silver Surfer comics that lead into the Infinity Gauntlet, and the reason Death wants him to knock off half the universe is because if the rate of growth increases, the entire universe would starve itself out within a few centuries. By Thanos taking out half now, it'll ensure a long term survival, therefore more souls in the long run for Death to harvest. And of course, Thanos sets off to the task, but only because he is in love with Death.

It's not just about the cheapening of abstracts. Thanos being an eco-terrorist is inherently more interesting than him being a stalker. There's something inherently silly about stalker Thanos. I keep expecting Death to go to the Living Tribunal and get a restraining order on him.

Whereas Thanos the eco-terrorist speaks to a modern issue: how far should we go to fix things like global warming? Is the Chinese one-child-policy actually a good idea? Should we forestall economic development that would allow people to feed their families today because it might destroy the world tomorrow? There's a weight to eco-terrorist Thanos' critique of the universe. There is no weight to stalker Thanos' wanting to bang a chick out of his league.

But if Thanos's motivation is population control because resources are limited, why wouldn't he just use the gauntlet to create more resources?

Also, couldn't Strange just use the portals to cut off Thanos's arm like he did with one of his soldiers?

ya know....on the abstract front.....it's probably not what we think but for some reason both my niece and I thought that maybe the vision of Gamora that Thanos has at the end there may have been Death.

I had that thought as well.

In Doctor Who, Amelia Pond's younger self is played by Karen Gillan's cousin, in which the two had never met previously.

Why not base a Silver Surfer movie on the recent series?

Surfer comes to earth, The dot lady I can't remember tags along in space, she notices how everyone is scared of The surfer, get on a planet about to be annihilated by Galactus and learns he used to be his herald.

Surfer stands up for the planet, she rallies the planet, give up the planet, and then search for a new world.

I think that run would make a great Netflix series.  Cool, interesting ideas (e.g. the aliens that stole art lol) but a little too all over the place for a 2 hour movie.

That would make an awesome Netflix series.

Ah, I see. I missed parts of that because my youngest son put popcorn in his ear.

Was the First Order tracking every ship or just tracking the main one? If it was just the main one, why didn't they just shuttle everyone from that ship to the support ships and then have those jump to light speed all in different locations?

I played a barbarian one time that thought he was Thor. It was set up in such a way that if I made a successful hit, the DM would occasionally make it that I missed my attack, but at the same time a lightning bolt just happened to strike a tree causing it to fall on the other person's head or something similar. And things like that would just reinforce my character's belief that he was the son of Odin.

Yeah, Wolfe and Madani are two of the worst actors I've seen in any of the Netflix shows. Her mom too. I'm glad Wolfe got killed off early. It felt like a really bad 90's action tv movie that played on the USA network whenever they were on screen.

Doctor Who
BattleStar Galactica
Mrs. Brown's Boys
IT Crowd
Fawlty Towers

I wouldn't mind a Nightwing series by Bendis if it can reach the same level as his DD did.

And Bendis on a Young Justice book would be awesome.

His DD and Ultimate Spidey were always tops for me.
