ICT / Re: Rank these Marvel Characters in Strength
« on: June 30, 2018, 06:44:29 PM »
Technically, Bill should be stronger than Thor, but I'd argue the latter was if pressed strangely. Regardless, I meant the respective competitiveness/dynamic of the characters.

Hercules has actually thrown Thor and Iron Man trying to restrain him off of him.

What's the equivalent Thor has done strength wise?

And Adam is an antagonist for Cap. Hercules isn't.

Scan? If it is the scene I am thinking off, I don't see how that is even worth mentioning. That happens all the time. Heck, Thor and Hercules have thrown each other off in artistically dominant ways IN fights where they stalemated.

I was referring to something a BIT more concrete: Thor being portrayed as equal or close to it against a massively amped Gilgamesh who in the same story at his base was explicitly competitive with Hercules at his base. Those were extended fights, especially the former albeit the latter was mostly off-panel.

I don't think the status of hero/villain matters. I meant the foundation of the rivalry. The only one more prominent in Marvel Comics is Thor/Hulk.

Are you attempting to be a contrarian, or do you believe Hercules is stronger than Thor?

Few characters have a history of consistently equal strength as Hercules and Thor. As a matter of fact, more indirect evidence supports Thor being stronger to varying degrees than the other way around. It's like ranking Captain Marvel stronger than Black Adam. Just doesn't make sense imho.

Wonder Man is last imo. The rest are interchangeable. Blue Marvel was intended to be just as strong as Thor and Hulk, maybe a little less. The most recent Hickman Hyperion and Thor seemed to be more or less equals physically. Gladiator and Hyperion were equals in their encounter, I'd wager it'd be the same with the most recent version. Thor and Gladiator are a wash. Blue Marvel and King Hyperion appeared to be equal in strength, I'd wager the same would happen with Hickman's version. I can't think of anymore comparisons off the top of my head.

Superman might be able to solo the other two.

Lol Jesus.

Maybe Thor can move a few planets in the next movie so he can finally have a chance of breaking even with Superman.

You're a very reasonable and logical person PB. I respect your posts but I dk why there seems to be some disconnect between reality and Superman fans so consistently...

...with the Power Stone.

He didn't use the Power Stone when he fought the Hulk. The IG in the movies is different from the comics.

Team 1 stomps. Wonder Woman would get destroyed by either of Team 1. Thor would beat Superman and Superman would take Thanos probs, but it would be like fighting a slower Doomsday or Nam-Ek (Heat Vision and flight ftw probably).

Thanos with NO stones has literally 0 known feats, right?

He beat the shit out of the Hulk.

He was considered to be the toughest in the Universe, stronger than the Hulk and invulnerable according to the director. I think we saw that by how he chocked out Loki (Who is still crazy durable) and made Hulk his bitch.

Thor is a lot more skilled than Colossus similar to Angel Dust, and also overwhelmingly more powerful physically not unlike Juggernaut.

He'd get wrecked.

How mad is Jelly that an entire generation is growing up thinking Thor is not only a better hero than Superman, but would kick his ass?

Why else do you think he's in here talking about Captain America giving Thanos' finger tips a workout for a small second (It was slowmo time).

Superman can't lift an oil rig and was knocked out by it's collapse.

Thor moved the rings of a Star forge and endured the "full force" of a Star.

1) Zeus by implication but he did nothing imo.
2) Doomsday.
3) Superman/Zod.
4) Faroa and Non.
5) Steppenwolf.
6) Ares.
7) Wonder Woman.
8 ) Enchantress.

Can't even think of 2 others worth ranking lol.

Superman or any of the Kryptonian's would beat up Ares imo. Even Steppenwolf would kill him imo. He was beating up Wonder Woman true, but this was before she realized she was a God, and was struggling with a shitty Nazi version of Captain America. You can switch around Ares or Steppenwolf though, those are close.

Surtur was beaten by Odin half a million years ago. Odin also beat and banished Hela. The version we saw after the first movie was weakened/tired, but just based on the way he depowered Thor, he was clearly on an entirely different level.

Thor even with Stormbreaker can't beat Hela. Stormbreaker would even the odds incredibly, but even if he could beat the utter shit out of her with the hammer, Hela was basically indestructible and was only getting stronger. Valkyrie stabbed her with Dragonfang (A legendary weapon of the Valkyrie's), and Thor blasted her with enough lightning to shatter the Bifrost. She was completely unharmed even AS it was happening.

My biggest regret is that we never saw a full power Odin cut loose except messing up a few Frost Giants.

10 - Wanda
9 - Hulk
8 - Dr. Strange
7 - Thor
6 - Ego on his home world
5 - Hela
4 - Surtur
3 - Odin
2 - Dormammu
1 - Thanos

Ego and Hela are close.

Iron Man was hit with a massive piece and was completely undamaged. I dk why it doesn't get brought up more often. I was really impressed. Only Superman, Hulk, and Thor would do as well or better IMHO.

Also, Thanos took Nebula's swords wacking on him, palmed Iron Man's and Strange's energy blades. People harp on Stark eventually drawing a single drop of blood...

A nuclear weapon can vaporize a moon...? The sheer gravity holding together a lunar body and the volume of said object....

The Power Gem destroyed a planet with a burst of energy and Thanos used it to destroy a moon.

The reality Gem (Aether) alone is more powerful than the entire DCEU put together. Calling the IG not all that in a thread with Doomsday? LOL.

Here the Russo's describe Thanos' power:
"I mean it's like death comes to call for the Avengers. This is a nearly unbeatable force who is determined to destroy half the life in the universe to bring it to balance. He sees it as an overgrown garden that he needs to prune. As you mentioned, he is fairly invincible He's a sort of genetic mutation who's the Genghis Khan of the universe. He's unbeatable on the battlefield, stronger than the Hulk, skin in invincible. So it's going to cost the Avengers."

Thanos would get my money on beating the shit out of Doomsday like he did the Hulk if they appeared on film. Just a different level of big bad I believe. The way he brutally destroyed Banner is pretty ridiculous if you think about it. Hulk's a pretty big deal in terms of power in Marvel.

Watching that GIF again, Thor would one shot kill Doomsday 100%.

I keep forgetting Thor can summon the Bifrost at will now. That is a pretty OP power on it's own.

Agreed.

Regardless, if you want to utilize real-life proportions, you'd also have to take into consideration the gravitational effects of such a Star...so nothing changes in the ridiculousness of the feat. Depending on the age of the Neutron Star, it's more impressive than a regular Star in both durability and strength.

As an aside, I rewatched Thor: Ragnarok, and Thor said that Odin beat Surtur "like half a million years ago". Odin being powerful enough to defeat a full powered Surtur would've been a sight to see, but it also heavily contradicts the 5000 year old statement of The Dark World. They went full Godhood in Thor Ragnarok imo. Loki even calls himself a God of Mischief before Thanos kills him finally (I wonder if he's alive...).
