Oooo touchy touchy. You specifically mention how they maim humans and that indicates a high level of strength and disagreed with the notion that Cap could do so without editorial decree.

If you want to factor in “how you feel authors would portray the fight due to archetypes and character shields” then go ahead but differentiate that from how an actual fight with no bias would go. Bc that’s what we do here

That jaw feat always irked me because Scorpion classically had an edge on strength over Spider. Otherwise what’s the point of him?

Agreed.

If you see Karate Kid DC vs Liu Kang as competitive I can’t really continue this discussion. I think you’re out of touch with reality here.

I'm simply acknowledging the elastic nature of power levels, and the way characters tend to vary according to what they're up against. Karate Kid's showings against Kryptonians or Daxamites don't prove he'll wreck high-end street levellers. KK had two fights with Batman which were both competitive.

I am applying real world standards to Cap. Midnighter isn’t that much stronger than Cap and he tears apart humans and meta humans who are amped 10x their usual strength level. It’s literally all editorial edicts.

No one's denying that, but MK characters don't have that problem.

Shuruku doesn't think Cap is strong enough to maim a human body

I never said that, and don't think that. You read something I wrote, took it the wrong way, and now you're clinging onto it, like a dog with a bone, even though I've repeatedly clarified that's not what I meant. It seems like you're just determined to debate this particular point for whatever reason, even though no one's actually disagreeing with you.

And he’s had a ton of other showings that can negate that showing. Never mind that Bats is likely more skilled than Liu Kang.

Marvel Hercules vs Kevin Sorbocles

Vertigo Lucifer vs Sorbo Lucifer

Deathstroke vs Ozymamdias.

How do these play out?

Again I’m asking you what should happen-we don’t debate what a writer would show with aura. As an outside bystander without those factors what happens here?

So then why use MK maiming humans as a citation that they are stronger than Cap when you just agreed that it’s all editorial decree? And nullified your original point. So we have about a Cap level martial artist with hellfire powers, more or less.

This fight is akin to a skilled mouse w/ a cool shield vs Stone Cold Steve Austin

This Kong was only 20-30 feet. If cap uses the sharp edge of the shield on the skull I think he could do some damage

You must have taken those images from the non-canon Malibu comics.

I'm still waiting on how Gargan can defeat someone like a blood lusted Raiden.

To Shuruku... you are correct. They do their spine ripping in the midst of kombat.

What has a non god form Raiden done physically?

I can't quote well mobiley.

Cap does have that type of damage output, he's just not allowed to maim humans in Marvel comics. He has striking feats and etc. that would easily put him in human crushing territory.

What a character is capable of in theory is of little or no relevance if they don't actually do it in practice.

Ryu comes from a universe where we have more concrete feats though, so that's an easier comparison. We've seen Akuma sink submarines. When you don't have that, concept is not enough. Being top in one universe is not the same as being top in another.

Prince of Orphans vs Snake Eyes

Karate Kid vs Master splinter

Temugin vs Ash

Etc. etc. etc.

Being the top guy in your universe doesn't automatically make you equal to the top guy in another, but it can do, depending on how the writer views it. I'm of the opinion that most writers would pay as much if not more attention to Liu Kang and Shang-Chi's  conceptual similarity, as they would to their relative feats.

So how do you think a Ryu/Liu Kang fight would go in an official crossover? Ownage, or competitive?

Didn’t you recently cite a handbook as theory and support in another thread? Using normal physics or a different universe, Cap is easily strong enough to mangle a human body. The only reason he doesn’t do so is that he’s not a murderer and it’s the Marvel universe where Cap won’t be going around killing everybody. It factors some of that realism out.

So I don’t think Scorpion has anything physically that puts him above Cap.

I think Ryu is a lot more powerful than Liu Kang. And I think both universes are definitely “weaker” than a comics universe. Ryu has some great techniques and powerful chi but I’m not sure I’d say he’s technically more skilled than Batman, for example. Ryu would take a solid majority from Liu Kang.

How does DC Karate Kid do against Liu Kang in your opinion?
