Showcase of the Immortals / Re: No one watched Survivor Series?
« on: November 20, 2017, 02:59:34 PM »
Honestly, out of Nakamura, Roode, Joe, and Balor... only Balor has any REAL forward momentum. The rest are all stuck in neutral. And at least Balor looked the best out of all of them.

I think it's more a shame that Zayn and Owens showed up just to get beat up and chased away by Shane. That was a crime that they weren't even relevant.

I have no idea what Braun's purpose is since he was jobbed clean to Brock. I mean, good that they are still working with him, but I admit I do care a lot less since the Lesnar match.

New Day/Shield was gold.

And Usos/Bar was damn good.

AJ and Brock was all right, but it started too much as a squash, and my interest waned. By the time the match got good, I was already kind of taken out of it, and I had to work to get re-invested.

Another great NXT start to a major PPV weekend. It was not an overall strong show, but the main event fucking delivered hard.

Here’s hoping Alexander Wolfe is not severely injured from the table spot. He busted the back of his skull open nasty. Looked at least as bad as what Brock did to Orton last Summerslam.

Anyway, on topic, wouldn't Monica Rambeau just obliterate Dracula?

Also, would anyone give Punisher 6/10 against Sunspot unless specific circumstances are dictated? I sure as hell wouldn't say Sunspot is a bad matchup against someone just because he isn't bulletproof.

My problem with 5e to this point is I can't find character builders that have EVERYTHING in them. That was why I preferred 4e, actually. My 4e character builder let you play as virtually anything. Want to be a Bugbear Psion? You got it. Wilden Swordmage? Knock yourself out! Githyanki Artificer? Do it!

Unless I'm missing out on stuff, 5e seems to just allow the stripped-down basics unless you just house-rules everything.

My buddy got me into D&D about... Jesus... 5 years ago or so at this point? It really is fun.

We've bounced back-and-forth between 4e and 5e, and I think we're going to transition to 5e full time soon enough (I love a lot about 4e, but combat in 4e can be a fucking chore).

My group is... comically ineffectual, and we tend to rely on our fallback strategy (burn this building/village/city to the ground to cover up our mistakes) far too often.

Currently playing as a Changeling Warlock who, despite being a fucking changeling warlock, is pretty much the most pure-hearted and good member of our group. But we did a brief interlude campaign once (just 4 sessions long) where I played Chaotic Evil as a tiefling barbarian, and that was a fucking blast.

I feel like there is no consistency here in the replies. Are we picking people who would trash the last guy or who would get killed by him?

Hell, if all of these celebrities moved to Alabama, they could become Senators

Just two or three days ago, my buddy texted me when the news of Bendis defecting broke. My friend was basically launching into a tirade about how Bendis hated and ruined Vision and Scarlet Witch, and he's happy he is gone from Marvel.

Our conversation hit the same point the topic here is: Bendis was great a characters closer to the ground, but pretty piss-poor at higher tier beings. Also, he is good with no more than 2 or maybe 3 books. When he had too much control, he just made a mess. But at just, say, two regular ongoing low-power character books? He was genuinely great at that.

I think the problem is that we have very different ideas on the size comparison between Asgard and Ego.

Possibly, but now for my trump card: which of us finds himself in agreement with Quan?

But how does he get there? Unlike Asgard, Ego fights back.

I mean, I guess I don’t care this much, I would just think Ego crushes him long before Surtur gets to the core. Fighting a sentient being is a lot different than fighting a rock that didn’t resist. Ah well.

SS is looking fucking SOLID at this point and with the speculated matches.

Brock/AJ: Fuck yes.

SHIELD/New Day: I hope Reigns is healthy for this, but it's looking unlikely at this point. Still, you're dealing with two of the best teams/units/factions of all time, who just missed each other's era by a year or so. Also, hopefully New Day gets to heal it up again here.

Usos/Bar: The opposite of SHIELD/New Day where we have two heels. The Usos may be written out here with Jey's apparent Smackdown injury (which I think is a work, but their is talk it may be real). I hope we get to see this, though; it could seriously be fantastic. Both teams have barn burner potential.

Corbin/Miz: Eh, who cares? But as long as Miz wins.

Bliss/Natalya (or Charlotte): I imagine Raw has to take an L here so Brock and Miz can win. And I'd like to see The Bar beat The Usos. Damn... Raw has ALL the better champs now (except for AJ/Brock, but there's NO WAY they put AJ over Brock).

Womens' SS match: I'm not even sure who is in this. But it will be all right. The talent is there.

Balor, Joe, Angle, Jordan, Braun vs Shane, Shinsuke, Orton, Roode, and TBA (if Wikipedia is to be believed, the last SD member is Cena, which would be great): So much intrigue here! Can Balor and Joe get along? Will Jordan turn heel on Angle? How will Owens and Sami factor in? This match could be one of those messes that is overbooked in a GOOD way.

Enzo/Kalisto: Whatever.

Honestly? I see Ego taking this fairly easily. Surtur's power comes from his size and strength, but Ego is a friggin' PLANET. Much bigger than a mountain. And how does Surtur find Ego's weakness? I doubt Ego just tells him what it is like he did to the GotG.

Ego smashes Surtur to death with a million tons of rock. And if Pokemon has taught me anything, rock is super effective against fire.
Ego struggled with the GOTG.  Surtur destroys him with one sword plunge.

Like I said... Ego literally told them how to beat him. And Mantis told them everything else they'd need (and put Ego to sleep). I don't see how Surtur--who hasn't shown any feats of intelligence--figures out he needs to destroy Ego's light/soul/whatever.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't see this. I'd think Ego has this in spades. Just smashes the fuck out of him with rock pillars.

AJ Styles won the WWE title off of Jinder Mahal.

So the long national nightmare of the Jinder title run is OVER. AND we should get to see fucking Styles/Lesnar at Survivor Series!

You know... unless they put the belt back on Jinder next week.

Personally, I didn't care for Korg much at all.

Okay, yeah. I thought Korg was overrated. He didn't detract from anything or me, but all this "KORG WAS MY FAVORITE!" stuff is a bit weird to me, because I just thought he was all right.

I also think the best funny parts were Hulk's reaction to not getting to fight Surtur and Loki's "THAT'S HOW IT FEELS!" when Hulk was swatting Thor around.
