Game Cage / Tech Help: Xbox One & Headsets...
« on: September 10, 2018, 02:33:00 AM »
My kid keeps having headsets conk out on him & we can't figure out what's the problem.

Headset will be working fine then for no obvious reason the mic and/or speakers just stop working.
The headset icon will appear on screen confirming that a headset is being used however he can neither hear or talk. Most often he can hear but not talk.

I bought him a new controller & headset...the icon appears on screen, we've checked all the settings but still nothing.
I've even tried the headset on other devices & it works perfectly fine.

On a seperate note & I'm not sure if there's a connection to the headset prob....but I haven't bought him a Gold Pass in over several months & he still has access to playing online.
I can't figure out why he still has access...I've always bought 1 Month vouchers with cash so Xbox doesn't have my credit card details...I haven't bought a voucher in over 3 months & yet he still can access & play online...minus the ability to communicate via headset.

Is there a valid connection at all?

On Netflix.

A boozy ex-cop turned hitman.
An imaginary flying unicorn voiced by Patton Oswalt.
A perverted Santa that kidnaps kids.

Pretty fucked up.
Bloody hilarious.

Ghost Wars on Netflix.

2 episodes in & I'm intrigued.

Small Alaskan town that's suddenly been invaded by ghosts.
Cool explanation that ghosts who can't travel to the afterlife (for whatever reason) become angry & violent towards humans.

The whole townsfolk slowly begin to believe in the supernatural as the ghosts deliberately sabotage every means to escape the town.

Vincent D'Onofrio is very convincing down to earth pastor who sides with Roman who has had the ability to see ghosts all his life making him the town freak.
Never liked D'Onofrio until he played Fisk & now this is another role he easily makes his own.

I've never seen an episode of Supernatural so I can't compare but this show could've easily been what Constantine strived to be.

First season on Netflix.

I'm surprised no one's talking about this sci fi series.

Nice, bleak Blade Runneresque future. Decent action/violent scenes reminiscent of Netflix Daredevil.

Basic premise is that your memories/personalities/soul are stored in a Stack (computer disc chip thing) inserted into the spine...so if your body is critically injured or old or diseased, your Stack can be placed into a healthier body called a Sleeve. And depending on how rich or poor you are determines on whether you get to choose what "new" body you get. So for example, if your daughter is killed but you only have a basic life insurance for her, her stack may be implanted into a healthy middle aged man's body (who for whatever reason has had his body forfeited.) There's a funny scene where a dead grand mother's stack is inserted into a big, tattooed, hairy biker's body just so that her family can enjoy her company on Dia de Muertos.

Obviously not a new concept but the show relies heavily on characters being able to constantly download their stacks into other bodies to survive.
However, IMO this is also probably the only flaw in the series...characters are constantly being duped or act surprised when they realise their antagonist has used a "familiar" Sleeve to deceive them.

Still, interesting storyline, very graphic violence, boobies & some cool fight scenes. 7/10 for a Netflix series.

2 episodes in...I'm curious to see how it plays out.
The emo angst is bearable as the main characters are interesting enough to watch.

I don't understand why Netflix didn't release it as a movie instead of 8 short episodes...christ Ep. 1 was only 18 mins long.

Music, Movies, Tv and Books / Fear The Gun.
« on: October 10, 2017, 02:08:52 PM »
Guns, gun fights, getting shot, wounded or killed are pretty common in movies these days.

Juz wondering about that one particular scene where you actually felt scared at the presence of a gun.

The one scene that comes to mind is in Sixth Sense...where the son holds the loaded pistol to Bruce to test if he is immortal.

Music, Movies, Tv and Books / Skull Island: SPOILERS
« on: March 09, 2017, 05:18:25 AM »
The wait & anticipation sure paid off...if you like the genre then this movie delivers the WOW factor.

This movie is gritty. It's got that Platoon/Full Metal Jacket vibe meets creatures from Riddick's universe.

Kong is huge!
LOL you barely see his entire figure on screen unless  it's a long shot, otherwise close-ups are just facial features or a hand or a leg stomping on something.
He's impressive but because of his sheer scale you don't get to bond or feel compassionate about him...he is a revered God to the natives on the island & a peaceful co-existence exists between the two.

There is no Beauty/Beast, hero & heroine love triangle here. Kong doesn't fall in love with Brie Larson's character, Mason. He sniffs & senses she isn't a threat & so far, that is that.

Tom Hiddleston plays the competent hero that doesn't take up too much screen time. Some moments where you can imagine him as the next Indiana...

Goodman plays the character he's famous for...likeable & trustworthy until he reveals his ulterior motives.

Samuel Jackson starts off with good intentions but slowly loses it when he realises not everything can be solved by killing...life only makes sense if it's a battle.

John C. Reilly is the comic relief but in a good way. Once you understand he's been on the island for 48 years, all his eccentricities are easily accepted.

Brie Larson isn't the damsel in distress. She's strong willed & although the starring female role, this story isn't about her & Kong.

There's one scene that's PIS & leaves you scratching your head but I won't bring it up until other peeps have watched it.

Simply, this Kong rocks!

Food and Fitness / Are Vitamins & Supplements Effective?
« on: February 08, 2017, 07:32:12 AM »
I injured my ankle about 10 years ago & it's never healed fully.
Every few months I get a sharp nagging pain that takes days to subside.
The doc says it could be arthritis setting in.

So the chick at the pharmacy gets me to buy multi vits, fish oil capsules, magnesium/citrate & glucosamine/chondroitin pills.

I've been swallowing 12 pills a day for the past several weeks & have no idea if they're actually effective or not.
Even my doc suggested they may be a waste of money...

Anyone else popping pills?

Ask The Staff / Can A Mod Update My Profile Info?
« on: October 21, 2016, 10:48:45 PM »
My email addy attached to HC is no longer valid so I can't reset my password.

I can access HC thru my pc however for some reason my phone needs to re-log & I can't do that as I've forgotten my password.

Is there any chance a Mod can re-edit my profile for me & update it with my new email address?

Scenes don't necessarily have to have Bats in them.
You might've hated the movie overall but liked one outstanding scene.

General Chat / Facebook Recognition?
« on: April 14, 2016, 04:08:15 AM »
Does anyone know how Facebook (& I assume other social media outlets) recognise "people you may know"?

I can see the pattern of names in my phone contact list or people I've emailed in the past but then other names pop up of people I haven't seen, contacted or spoken to in over 20 years. Nor do I have these people's contacts stored in my phone or computer. And these people aren't even "a mutual friend" of someone I already know.

Considering I've only joined Facebook about 2 years ago & my current mobile no. is under someone else's name, I'm constantly surprised at the names (from my past) that constantly pop up as people I know...it's Big Brother level of scariness.

DC Drones / Killing Joke Question
« on: March 04, 2016, 10:23:29 AM »
It's prob been over 30 years since I read it but the ending always bugged me.

Was Bats laughing so hard at The Joker's joke that he was bracing himself against The Joker's chest OR was Bats actually strangling The Joker?

Just kinda seems out of place, Bats would let down his guard to find The Joker's joke hilarious. Especially after the violence done to Gotdon & Barbara...

Yet when I've asked friends the same question, they were surprised that the last panel could be also interpreted as Bats strangling The Joker. Possibly to make him stop laughing.

Any thoughts?

DC Drones / Batman's Multiple Titles.
« on: January 22, 2016, 07:50:40 AM »
Is Batman the only character that has multiple titles to its name?

I haven't bought or read a comic in ages so it was a bit overwhelming to look at all his titles & not be familiar with the continuity of the various storylines happening...

Is it overkill or does it work?

What other characters get more than one title to their name?
