ICT / The Hulk to Captain Marvel Challenge
« on: October 19, 2017, 01:22:07 PM »
Remember that time Captain Marvel was wailing on Doc Green and he was just smiling relaxing?

Well that's inspired this challenge, and I don't think it will be easy but I applaud anyone willing to try. You ou can go as nuts with this as you want, edit as you go, or put a list out there just to get things started, but I hope you'll participate.

Ok here it is:

With Hulk as number 1, and Captain Marvel the last name on this list, rank all the Marvel characters you can that fall between them in strength.

should look a little something like this

Captain Marvel

Obv a lot more names in there, and, well actual character names. Very curious to see what characters people include and where they rank them

ICT / It's your Denver
« on: October 16, 2017, 09:45:55 AM »
Denver Colorado (a place I've never been) becomes the link to the nexus of all realities on this plane. You discover it and get Man-Thing like awareness of the multiverse and also the ability to burn anything what knows fear w/ your touch, but you're still more or less you other than that.

However, here's the fun gentlemen and gentlemen, you cannot travel through the multiverse but you can bring people/things here to this plane. Like a monkey's paw or Jinn's lamp, you get three. Each with only one constraint. Here are your three, take one for each:

1) Any object of power from any reality, cannot exceed top tier power-wise
2) Any character from any reality, cannot exceed top tier power-wise
3) Anything you want from any LIVE ACTION reality, be it person, thing, whatever

Your objective? Make Denver your best Denver and live your truth.

What/Who do you pick?

Who are the top 10 most important? In order. Ties are okay. Hell if you can do 15, go for it.

One of the guys from Blink-182 is heavily involved in this Fantastic Four shit somehow.

No prep, random encounter, fight takes place at some kind of abandoned grassy, former government facility that did some off the books stuff in say Virginia. There are fences, but they're mostly torn down. Various bunkers and buildings, but the fighters meet outside of them. Slighty overcast, 62 degrees F. The two duos show up at the same time for some goal and then the fighting starts after some quips & misunderstanding (the name of my autobiography)...

Not the kind of movie I expect to be widely viewed here. MTL will probably see it.

Felt like I was driven closer to the brink of madness watching this movie than any other. Previously that record was held by Funny Games with Mulholland Drive in a close second. This one pushed it way further. Not in a good way. Oh well. Maybe I'm a Philistine, but did not feel this thing.

Here's the challenge

Create a Superhero team of individuals from the Far future

1) numbers 8-12 future heroes + 1 from the present(ish)
2) no more than 3 members from any one reality
3) at least 3 females in total
4) members should be on the younger side (teens to twenties) but honestly this is tough enough feel free to fudge this one.

Seems tough to me at first sight, but potentially a great jump off for some cool teams. Can assign up to like 3 items/boosts if you're so inclined.

Marvel Zombies / Who are all of Wolverine's mentors?
« on: September 17, 2017, 08:14:01 AM »
Guy has been around for awhile, been mentor to many but also been mentored by many. If I type mentor one more time the word is liable to lose all meaning. It's a straightforward enough question, so who are they?

New comic from Image. From one of the writers of Shirtless Bear Fighter. Anyone read it?

A lot of movies and tv don't live up to the source material. On the other hand, I find, particularly with comic book movies, that the live action treatment has been really good for a character. There are now quite a few characters who I like better due to their on screen portrayal. I'll list mine, but what are yours?

This is in order, bc it's actually kind of clear to me by how much more I took away from the actor than from the original.

1) Tony Stark
RD jr defines this for me. He brought a charm to the character that was necessary.

2) Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot finally made WW likable. Which in concept she should be, but just felt a bit messy a contradictary until I saw Gadot's effortless portrayal of naive and wise, war and peace, all well balanced with plenty of charm and charisma.

3) Deadpool
I thought the character was kind of annoying in the comics and apart from his cool look, I felt like a lot of different tones were taken with the character and almost all didn't really make for anything compelling. Then RR nailed it, and I did not see that coming.

4) JJ Jameson
Frankly it was just the phenomenal job of making the exact feeling of a character from the comic be there on the screen, and it felt like a comic character but at the same time a real person. Truly, it was just beautiful. J.K. Simmons is always great, and this was no exception.

5) Starlord
I kind of dug Starlord in the comics to some degree, the old grizzled space strategist take of Annihilation was cool. The Starlord brought to screen by Chris Pratt was 100x more relatable though. An 80's kid making his way through space, still retaining his devil may care, flippancy, wanting to be a big deal but not being one. Not living up to his potential but having fun while doing it. Prob my favorite Marvel cinematic character. Long live this guy who's super power is knowing how to get by.

6) Captain America
I actually never really cared for Cap in the comics, but in the movies I'm much more into him. Good work, another blonde Chris (last one on the list). You made a meh, into a yeh.

7) Doctor Octopus
I like Doc Ock in other things pretty much. He's not a bad villain by any means. It's a credit to Alfred Malino that I like him that much more on screen.

8) Catwoman
Michelle Phiefer's to be specific. It was a weird and wonderful portrayal and as much credit goes to her as to the costume designer and director, but her Catwoman is seered in my mind in a way that any other portrayal never will be. Shout out to Danny Devido's Penguin as well.

There are others I like, some about as much as I like as there comic portrayals but maybe for different reasons, some I still like even though I like their comic portrayals more, and some where I'm like, "yeah, both are ok". Those are the ones that I definitively like more than the comic book versions though.

So what're yours? Or feel particular ways about my picks, let me know in the comments below. And don't forget to hit like, and subscribe for more content. See you next time buzzfeeders!

Debate / ANTIFA: smash or trash?
« on: September 01, 2017, 10:53:06 AM »
Lots of discussion about them in other threads so I wanted to have a central place to gauge others opinions. I'm still not fully formed on my take, open to hearing others. And I know they're not one thing, lots of people with dif ideas of how to proceed under one general banner.

That said we more or less know what they stand for and I support that part. I obviously like them a hell of a lot more than the groups they oppose but that's not saying much. Of course the right wing media denounces them and Trump too but that only makes them more laudable in my eyes. Still some of their means are questionable, and while I think they show more restraint than many members of groups they oppose, those means are still extreme in the eyes of many.

So enough from me, you get what I'm saying, I want to know your take. Universally denounce? Universally support? Or something in between?
