General Comic Discussion / Re: So I guess I started a podcast?

Very nice start! Cant be underestimated. You should continuously be looking for new ways to grow and new ways to build the community. Have you thought about making a Facebook group for fans of the show? Building enthusiasm through your already large following is a great way to build your brand.

Theres plenty of free things you can do. Put together a few images and post them on Instagram with relevant hashtags is just one example (I've noticed you can build up quick engagement with a public Instagram account).

Very nice stuff Not BAMF

Thanks, man. I spend a lot of time on Twitter and I have started all of our YouTube stuff recently. I have done a shit job paying attention to Instagram, but I think Andy has started posting some teasers and what-have-you there. We have a Facebook... page? Or Group? I am not sure which. I have heard one is better than the other, but I can't recall, haha.

Also, we have a few things coming up. Next Sunday night I am guest starring on another comic book podcast, on the 13th, we are all guest starring on a movie podcast, and on the 19th, we are having a guest star from a video game horror podcast. So we are in the community!

The reaction on Twitter was OVERWHELMINGLY positive. But I don’t know what to think yet. My first instinct is “No”, but maybe I should chew on it some more.

Hows the podcast going? I have to tune in. Hope your audience is continuously growing!

We are doing all right. Website views aren’t where I want them to be yet, but to be fair, we have put like a total of $10 into actual advertising online at this point. I keep meaning to do some ads on Twitter and FB and stuff, but I get distracted.

We are growing though. We are still recording every week and we are on a TON of platforms now (iTunes, Stitcher, Apple podcasts, Tune In, Google Play, YouTube all off the top of my head. My cohosts loves the fact that he can just tell Alexa to play our show and it does.

We have a booth at Three Rivers Con coming up in May, and we will probably go around and try to interview as many creators that day as we can.

So we are still moving forward and getting bigger. Something like 1600 Twitter followers and email subscribers (each, not combined) so that is nice. Gotta start spending some ad money though.

And I always post our new episode every Tuesday in my signature here ;)

So I have been following this thread and honestly at this point I have to ask outside of referencing The Jane Thor run which has a lot of problems but is an outlier even in the career of that one writer does this whole movement have any points that have not been debunked by now?

The whole "comics are dying" thing has been pretty clearly shown to be a massive example of exaggeration.

The issue of marvel replacement characters has been pretty clearly shown to fit into the trend of past marvel history. Yeah some of them were pretty crappy but I put that down to a lot of current writers and styles that are given a ton of freedom. Was the iron man replacement really any worse then Bendis milking the whole secret of Ronin?

The whole current political trends are being unfairly forced into the comics is almost laughable compared to examples given from the past about how female characters were very intentionally margianialized in mainstream comics.

In regards to various other points they are clearly outright lying on several events in current comics or exaggerating them so far beyond the context of the actual comic that they are useless to consider as valid criticism. Say what you want about hyperbole but if you distort something enough that you are no longer addressing the actual subject matter then you no longer have the right to act like you are presenting a valid point.

A large number of the main personalities behind comicsgate are clearly sexist and racist. That has been pretty clearly shown through this thread and the fact that the movement is welling to accept the as major contributors says very negative things about it.

It's also pretty clear that the movement is being hugely hypocritical complaining about inserting politics into comics and then supporting material that is equally far right from creators in the community. Honestly if you can look at scans posted a page bag and not see how they are playing into political narratives just as much as Jane Thor played into its own then you are allowing your own political views to blind you. Both were a huge turn off for me.

Are there actually any other issues because honestly it seems at this point comicsgate should be given zero credibility.

You pretty much nailed all this. You and VQ restore so much of my faith in this forum.

This is an odd tangent.

I have no idea what is even going on.

To be fair, I kind of blanked out on the middle of this thread, and I have no idea why we are discussing this. Because you don't want Carol to single-handedly defeat Thanos in A4? Because there is approximately no chance whatsoever of that happening.

Saying "STORMBREAKER TOOK THE BLAST!" is like saying "If Cap didn't have his shield, Iron Man would have punched his head off, so Cap standing up to Tony counts for Cap's shield, not Cap". You're Abhi-ing. Don't Abhi up this thread. :)

Stormbreaker is part of Thor's equipment now, and if he had aimed better, he would have one-shot full IG Thanos. I mean... Thanos even said as much. There's no argument there.

Only he didn't. Thor showed up with Stormbreaker and almost took him out.
Yet he casually beat the shit out of the strongest avenger.

Right. And then Thor showed up, was unaffected by a full IG blast and--by Thanos' own admission--could have one-shotted him if his aim was better.

But will they make more than, like, 15 of them?

Hunter was a better talent all-around. Highlighted by a significant edge on the mic. So Roman's push is less meritorious.

Hunter's might actually end up more damaging though. The talent adversely affected in one manner or another included Jericho, RVD, Booker, Kane, Orton, and Goldberg. Reigns has Strowman, Ambrose, Rollins, and Miz.

To counter your point: all those guys "buried" by HHH still managed to get over (hence why you are able to say "Look at all these great guys HHH went over!"). Who knows how big Strowman, Rollins, Balor, etc could be without Reigns in their way?

Oh, I forgot 8 existed in my head, haha.

Triple H paid his dues and worked his way up and deserved his spot when he got there. His run SUCKED and made everything awful, but it's not like he was just made a god from the word go. Also, his handling of NXT absolves all sins.

Roman has been handed everything and has been treated as a megastar since he debuted. And main eventing 4 Manias in a row is pretty crazy. Hogan never did that. Austin never did that. Rocky never did that. Hell, did Cena ever do it?
