ICT / Re: Battle of the Week: Majestic vs Thanos
« on: August 18, 2017, 03:41:59 AM »
Jim Lee created Majestic to be the most powerful version of Superman, and Thanos without the Infinity Gauntlet is a less powerful version of Darkseid.  So I'd have to give the fight to Majestros by TKO after 15 bloody rounds.
It would look like the Ali/Frazier "Thriller in Manilla" and leave whatever planet it took place on an airless blasted wasteland.

It's tough to work in a still medium like a comic panel with a character who has no dialog and no thought balloons to work with.
In the upcoming series at least the actor can (if he's good enough) show some emotion through facial expressions and body language.

It helps to think that everyone else is as big a jackass as you are.

DC Drones / Re: Is there a Trinity during the Legion's time?
« on: August 03, 2017, 09:23:45 PM »
I thought the big idea of Trinity was that there needed to be one Hero/Villian from each of the three great storytelling genres.  Detective-Crime, covered by Batman. Science Fiction belongs to Superman, and Magic & Fantasy represented by Wonder Woman. With a connection between them they're unbeatable.
A great concept that I stole when I was running a Champions game long ago.

Marvel Zombies / Re: Marvel detectives?
« on: July 27, 2017, 11:53:28 AM »
Hands down the best detective in the MCU is...Ben Urich.  Not a superhero but he figured out Daredevil's identity as Matt Murdock with no powers and simple straightforward detective work.  Also he had the hard-boiled style to let the story of his lifetime slip through his fingers for the good of the city.

It'd still be a step up from now, then again Daffy Duck in charge would be a step up from now.

Since Hawkeye has two broken arms, I think I'll bet on Wick.

A couple of members of my family like this so I sit thru it once in a while.  I've been told that Tim Allen's stand up comedy (mainly at casinos and red state State Fairs) has become pretty much this style.
If that's his personal political humor or even just playing to that demographic "more power" to him. I just think it's hypocritical of him to bitch about stupid liberal colleges wasting tax dollars & weak prison sentences when he was a philosophy major who wrote two best sellers on the subject and payed for his student loan by selling cocaine for which he did prison time.

Marvel Zombies / Re: Favorite X-Men team uniform

I was always a fan of the original Kirby designed uniforms but I really like the way they're drawn by the artist in the new "All New X-Men" book.

That issue is probably the most famous issue of X-Factor (not there are many famous X-Factor stories to begin with).  The reveal that it was Leonard Samson they were talking to was also a nice touch.

Peter David wrote that and also the issues of Incredible Hulk where Doc Samson identified Banner and his various transformations as Multiple Personality Disorder.
He is great at thinking through the years or even decades of stories and figuring out the connecting threads and putting that into a believable character.

Maybe recently, thanks to the movies but the magic in Dr.Strange starting in the '60's and continuing through the '70's was always Far Eastern pop philosophy. Courtesy of Steve Ditko, Jim Starlin and company.

He'll hook you up with a training and diet program that consists of reading Superman comics and eating Alpo

I've been reading Superman since I was a little knocker in the late 60's and comics had just gone up to a whole twenty-five cents per book and I wouldn't feed Alpo to my dog.
My first comic was X-Men #27 "Enter the Mimic" and I was using computers back when the whole 'net was Prodigy that you got from Radio Shack.

And get yourself a proper avatar picture, for fuck's sake.

My computer skills aren't up to importing one and the only Black male in the files is Bob Marley.   A fine musician but having him as an avatar pic generally means you're a white kid who smokes too much dope.
...and yes, I'm so much of an old fart that I have no Kung-Fu and I call it dope.

With the new system comes new titles.  These all seem to be based on Eddie Murphy movies. Cool.

O.K.  I seem to have gone from -2 when this system started to -7 now.
Before I just decide that this Karma thing is just a way for gutless little passive agressives to snipe behind one another's backs and therefore ignore it forever, I'll ask calmly... Who have I annoyed, what have I done and is there a way to fix the problem?
