Also keep in mind you cant filibuster this. Remember when people saying DONT YOU DARE take away the supreme court filibuster when it was obama.  So of course that was the first thing trump did. So this will be Jammed through...because they dont want this after the midterms

In a way republicans played this well holding up the supreme court. Because they knew Republicans factor in the supreme court in voting more then Democrats. So that makes people turn out who might be on the fence. And people were saying "It now way you can hold up the court for 1 year. The dems will come at you to hard"

But then the republicans went

"Naaa the dems are pussies" and did it. Yea it generated some heat from that...but not much.

Elections have consequences. Well, that and Mitch McConnell is a piece of human garbage who I hope gets mauled by a gorilla. Slowly.

Big ups to all those "THERE'S NO REAL DIFFERENCE" voters who either stayed at home or fucking voted for Jill Whatsherfuckingface.

But But Heard some commentators say Dems could filibuster for FOUR YEARS!!!! The nom

Dems failure is they didnt tell the importance of the supreme court. Given what the rep did with obama pick they should of REALLY hammer this...by not letting them steal a suprem court pick. Since in important on voting laws, wages, campaing finace, social issue, basic human rights. Voting laws are going to get fucked with. Preproducrtive right are going to get fucked with. union stuff will get fucked with. Like the travle ban ruling probally wouldnt have happen if it was a leftist picks...yes evil if was the the evil neoliberal guy. That ohio shit probally wouldnt have hapen

Some reporter say trump wont pick someone that out there. Becuase he want to do it before midterms. But why. No republican going to vote against his pick if it before mid terms. It nothng Dems can do to stop them. If you were for money out of politcs...how you doing to do that now even if you have a progressive president next time. How with this supreme court.  We had a change for the the court to lean left for the first time..well since maybe ever. And lean HARD left with Kennedy leaving..since he was still pretty to the right. He just was not as insane

While I might disagree with some of the Jill voters, I somewhat see what they were doing. If you really cant vote for what you think is a lesser of two evil because they think she would cause world war 3 or murdering reporters. Ir they mad at what they did to  bernie

It the people who stayed home I dont get. Because if Jill got 5 percent that means more funding for 3rd parties, which massivly importnat Or the ones that screams we need 3rd parties but only come out to vote for them in the president election is faulty. Becuas they then will have no infranstucture

Or another smart move is if you against close primaries...Bernie running against, register Dem then register back after you vote for him. Be a big fucked you that a next day we see people all unregister...but most arent going to do that

Pffff-HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! Nooooo, no no no, the Corporate Dems are waaayyyy to pussy to do that. Their billionaire donors will tell them they don't like the market uncertainty created by not knowing whether a pro-corporate justice will be appointed, and they'll shut up like the good little bitch dogs they are. Sure, a handful of legit progressives will fight, but that's, being generous, maybe a quarter of the dems in power. Might as well be zero for all the effect that many votes will have.

Roe vs Wade being overturned along with  a potential detente with Russia might almost make this election worth it.

I doubt Roe v Wade will be overturned.  I remember when people thought Bush was going to do the same thing.  It's akin to when Republicans think any Democrat in office will take their guns any day now.

I think  restrictions with exceptions for rape/life threatening complications would be reasonable.

But it's entertaining seeing left wing women spaz out and threaten mass suicides in order to murder their children unrestricted. Great for perspective.

well Obama never said he wanted to take away people guns

trump did talk about tossing people in jail who get abortion and making it illegal

lot of time when people saying don't worry about trump it requires ignoring the stuff he says he plans to do.  which is hard sense you know he the president has the Senate, Congress and 2 supreme court picks that were filibuster proof

I know, it was a common claim that I continued seeing for months after Trump took office. Obama was supposed to launch an epic coup with his shadow government and all the veterans needed to be ready to amass more guns ASAP to "take the country back."

As for why I think they won't overturn Roe v Wade is because it'll be political suicide.  The GOP can talk about wanting to do away with it and how much they want abortion to be illegal as that makes them popular among their Evangelical base, but they have to know that about two third of the country support abortion rights to one degree or another.  If they actually get rid of it, then they won't be winning any offices for a very long time.  The Republicans are already massively unpopular.  Something like this will sink the party.

like the Ohio ruling

Republicans not afraid to push unpopular rulings

the tax plan
messing with Obama care

There are words to describe that, but this is the Debate forum, so I can't say them. :)

Suffice to say, I don't want to hear anyone of that ilk complaining about any Supreme Court decisions in what could likely be the rest of my lifetime. They're getting what they wanted.

In all seriousness, there were only about 5 million third party voters sptead all over the country and Jill Stein got less votes than Gary Johnson.  It never made a difference.

As for the Republicans, I feel this one will be bigger than simply going after Obamacare.  This will destroy their party.  Even with voter supression.  Too many people value it too much.

Well it was more of the people who stayed home out of protest that made a diffence. I kind of wish the people who stayed home voted for Jill..it would of put her to 5 percent, giving funding. Which would make for a real 3rd party. And it was a pretty close election

In the past few years, seem the republica do stuff that seem unheard of or political suicide..and still reather the storm. I mean a dude threaten to body slam a reporter and won. I mean a Governor ran on a hey maybe slavery wasnt so bad...and only last because he was ALSO a child molestor..and barely lost. I didnt think that travel ban would passed, but looks like it kind of did.

I think the republican plan

1) 50/50 Country no matter what.
2) Get thier base to come out by feeding them red meat
3) Get the votes in the right place, because they could therotecly keep losing the popular vote more and more and just win the few states that matter
4) Dont banned Abortion out right...but due a death of a 1000 cuts where its basicly banned

welp here we go. He will get put in before the midterms. May even have some dems vote for him because thier MASSIVE..MASSIVE pussies

If ginsberg go...then Trump will be one of the most influential president in a long time...just by having 3 supreme court picks

Now I know what your thinking. If the midterms have a blue wave, all ginsberg has to do is stay around till where a year away from the election. And dems can do the same thing Republicans did. Since it would be the same amount of time. After all republicans would be massive hypocrits to talked agaisnt that plan

So, what is so awful about this guy that people on social media are acting like the sky is falling, and why wasn't it an issue when he was appointed to his current position?

He was almost definitely nominated because his vocal opinions about whether or not the President can be investigated because it distracts him from the job. He was one of the people investigating Clinton with Ken Start, so that's going to draw some immediate questions.

Overall, there are much worse picks than Kavanaugh. I actually agree with his critiques of the CFPB, but strongly disagree with this administration's handicapping of it while going waaaay overboard with empowering large corporations.
