Title: Amalgam Comics
Post by: ultrabender on December 05, 2017, 06:15:43 PM
Back in the 90's Marvel and DC comics merged their characters and made Amalgam comics. Why did they not bother reviving this comic book series. Can they negotiate to have it return?.

It was interesting for what it was, but bringing it up twice was enough.

They had a few clever characters. Spider-Boy and Speed Demon were pretty cool.
Challengers of the Fantastic was superb.

Back then when the EIC's of Marvel & DC decided on this they just had to run it past corporate bosses who frankly didn't pay much attention to the internal goings on in their "funny book" division.
Now that there are potential billion (let me say that again...Billion) dollar movies attached to every character, and adding the folks at Disney into the mix it may be pretty low on the list for making deals. Maybe after everything is said and done and all the contracts signed over who owns what in the X-Men/Mutant stable of characters they might want to try something new with joint ownership.
I think I've quoted Robert Heinlein here before..." Whenever you ask why "they" do such and such, the answer is always money."

Thats a very apt quote in this case though.

If not mistaken, Marvel & DC co-own a character named Access:

Lord only knows how everything you mentioned impacts -that- poor guy.

Aside from showing up in an issue of Green Lantern (Ron Marz created the guy and was the GL writer at the time), I'm not sure he's done much else.

Last time i recall him at all was him being mentioned in the Superman/FF crossover.
He helped Supes get to the MU off panel is what i got from this:

Would Access count as a retired character these days?.
