Title: Foraging
Post by: scourge on July 10, 2017, 09:13:24 AM
You guys ever go out and forage for finds? I hope a decent amount and a friend of mine has recently started foraging pretty hard. He's had some great success with ramps and is slowly uping his mycology game. He did some amazing stuff with the ramps and there are certain things that just don't take to farming. So any gatherers out there?

Cant say as i have.
I hunt semi regularly, but foraging? I wouldnt even know where to start.
Well, i'd start in the woods obviously, but, i wouldnt know what was edible.

Honestly, all I take foraging as is hipsters bored with life wanting to try something new. The only people I've seen foraging (and it's like 95 percent of the time at the side of a highway/freeway) are old immigrants/Europeans. God knows what they're picking in a city like Toronto.

Where it says "hope" above it should have said "hike". I've heard the hipster association with foraging too, I still like it. Or just IDing molds, spores, and fungi in the woods. Berries too. If I can get some of those going in the woods I'm game. Fresh picked anything always tastes best.

Yeah, most people think Craft (Alchemy) is more profitable if you source your own ingredients, but any time dedicated to foraging is time better spent creating marketable wares

I went out to the woods with a mycology association yesterday and it was mostly very old people, young families, and people with Russian or Russian-like accents... and one hipster who posts on a comic book message board when he's not foraging.
