Title: Glow on Netflix
Post by: NeoGreenLantern on June 23, 2017, 01:28:37 PM
Alison Brie and Marc Maron in a show that about women's wrestling in the 80s. Watching the first episode and Alison already showed her boobs making it the best show ever.

I watching the first ep now. Brie looks a lot older than I remember her... But just as hot, if not more so.

Alison Brie is basically a realistic Sweet Dee on this show.

Its pretty good. The tone is a little all over the place but its not jarring.

I did not expect her to get naked as much as she did. I'm not even done the first episode.

Sherlock's girlfriend looks good when dresses normal and not socially awkward ADHD

Who are you talking about?

He means Betty Gilpin.  She played Sherlock's girlfriend on Elementary.

Are we getting characters mixed up?

It was Ruth who got her tits out & had a sex scene.

Brie's the one with the baby who got cheated on.

Alison Brie is the name of the actress playing Ruth.

I was talking about the two characters. First being Alison Brie showing her tits (Ruth). Then talked about Betty Gilpin and how she looks good when dressed normal compared to her role in elementary

Wasn't sure if Wyntyr's comment was based on mine. My bad.

This show is covering a lot of different plot lines in a few episodes. Seems like they are just burning a lot of standards in the first season and getting them out of the way.

What episode you on? I'm just on 4

Something about this show isn't clicking for me. I WANT to like it. I think the idea is great, and I think GLOW was responsible for my first boner when I stumbled onto the show as a kid. I like the leads. But it seems like it's going nowhere. I'm on episode 4 and all of the characters seem so shallow and stereotypical. Their wrestling personas are supposed to be caricatures but the characters themselves should have some depth.

Also, they've been training for five whole episodes. There's no progress.

Another thing, the soundtrack is great, but they lean too heavily on it to establish mood.

Holy shit though, Alison Brie doing pull ups on gymnast rings.

It is slow but by the end you get pretty rounded arcs for Ruth, Debbie, Sam, Cherry, and to a lesser extent Carmen, Chris, and Justine.

I felt the same at first but at some point, and I'm actually not sure when now that I look back, her character's motivation changes and she becomes more likable.

So far this show is a big meh for me. Still got few episodes to go so maybe it's a strong finish

My bad.
I was thinking Brie Larsen & thought Betty Gilpin was her.

What's the big deal about Alison Brie?
Her face isn't familiar to me?

Oh shit yeah now I recognise her from Community.

I never got into Mad Men.

She's the last person I'd imagine getting her tits out.

Betty Gilpin is sexy as fuck, but Justine has my heart

I expected after the first episode there would be lots of nudity. They tricked me!!!!

Indeed they did. I was expecting some ladies locker room grabass

They're not exactly a cast of good looking women to be hoping for tits & ass.

I mean those crotch shots of Brie hopping in & out of the ring is more cringe worthy than sexy to watch.

I finished it last night. It was all right, but not great. Had some good moments. 7/10 or so. I'll watch season 2.

I like that Sam went all Vince McMahon at the end with a "Because fuck you, that's why" kind of main event booking.

Also, any scene with Sam and Bash talking to each other? If I close my eyes and just hear their voices, it sounds like Seth Rollins talking to Dane Cook.

This show could have been much better with very little effort, not sure what happened.

I legit thought that dude was Dane Cook for at least a couple of episodes

Marc Maron was far and away the highlight of this show
Title: Re: Glow on Netflix

He was great but he was basically playing a hyped up version of himself.

I agree with both of those points. Like most stand-up comics, he's not really an actor. They probably just told him to play himself.

Anyone else watch season 2?

I thought it was markedly better than season 1.

The episode with the "Don't kidnap" song was fucking wonderful.

I'll be watching the rest next week, probably.

I've watched the first two episodes. I hope the new chick gets naked.

Does anyone else find Melanie super unattractive? Like hard to look at? She looks like she smells of cigarettes and vomit. The actress looks good in real life though. It's weird.

Yeah Melanie is gross.

I haven't started the new season yet, but I'm still solidly convinced that Britt Baron (Justine) should have my children
