Title: Where my picky eaters at?
Post by: Not BAMF on April 11, 2017, 12:00:27 PM
So there's lots of "What's your favorite _____?" topics. What foods can you just not stand?

I have unfortunate tastebuds in that there is just a LOT of food I flat-out hate. It's not that I generally won't try things--I will give a lot of crap a solid effort--but it turns out that I just can't tolerate so much stuff.

So what about you guys? Can you just eat anything (by-and-large)? Is there a list of "normal" food that you can't abide? Let's hear it.

So I can't eat...

Ham (I sure can't eat it by itself, but I recently had a calzone I didn't realize had ham in it until several bites it. It was so loaded up on pepperoni and sauce that they were all I could taste)
Hot Dogs
Sauerkraut
Coffee
Milk (by itself... I love it in cereal, but I can't just drink a glass of it, blech)
Ketchup
Mayonnaise
Most melons (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc)
Broccoli (this makes me feel like a child, but it's really putrid shit... I actually don't love a lot of cooked veggies, but broccoli is the most abhorrent)
Mushrooms
Anything really spicy. I am a complete puss at heat.

Those are the things that jump right to my mind, at least. I'll definitely come back and add more as I think about this.

I use to be a picky eater when I was a kid. Now there is basically one food I don't like, lettuce. I use to hate onions but I got over that for the most part.

Tiny fat Neo is the best type of Neo.

Eat mother fucking everything little buddy.

Cottage cheese is fascist and I won't stand for it being consumed next to my person.

I will slap it out of your hands and make you eat it off the floor like the rabid dog you are.

Think before you type you goddamned heathen.

I hate raw vegetables.  I love 'em all cooked, but a slice of tomato on a sandwich or any kind of salad I can't stand.

Meat with fat on it. My parents used to eat meat with fat on it all the time, and I hated it to the point that they thought I hated meat. I don't hate meat, I hate fat. It tastes slimy and guuh. I used to eat a hole into my fried porkchops because of the fat all around the edge.

Albino babies.

I know Jelly loves them and they're famed for their magical properties, but I just can't get into them

Liver, pate & store bought sauces & dips (I just don't trust them).

I enjoy all fruit but recently I tried a durian, out of curiosity.

It smells & tastes like raw sewerage...then it lingers & the next day yer still burping up the goddam smell.

My meat has to be well done. No pink. My mom always ate her steak rare and it grossed me out as a kid. So I always get the comments how can you eat that and you ruined a good piece of meat. That preference in life will never change.

I can't eat well done, but I do get medium well. And I'd eat well done over rare. Same story: my mom ate everything rare, so it was all I knew. When I was in my teens, I figured out "Wait, what? You can COOK your food?!" and it blew my mind.

^^^haha!
I was like that when i joined the Army. Tried a ton of stuff in basic cooked differently/for the first time.
Very first morning, after getting woken up & PT'd to death, needed coffee SO bad. First taste i almost spit it out, as i'd never drank 'white' coffee before (had always been Bustelo, or El Pico). I got used to it.

OT:
I wont eat fish/sea food. I find it smelly & gross. Closest i come is albacore, which i usually just call tuna fish, for sandwiches, but i swear by the stuff.

Chicken. I can only eat it certain ways. As an example of my retardation i'd rather eat chicken nuggets than even a bite of a well made rotisserie or baked chicken bleh.

No other birds, either; you can shoot me in the head before i'd eat say, duck. No brown eggs.

Gamey meat (deer, elk and the like). I hunt regularly, but give the meat to elderly folks that can use it, through my local VA so it doesnt go to waste.
