But you gotta love that for all the talk of creators rights and ownership coming out of Kirkman, something like this happens.
If I were Alanis Morrisette, I'd call this irony.

I'd like to hear Kirkman's side of this, specifically regarding the TV-deal. Sounds really fishy that they wanted Moore to hand over his interest to Kirkman.
Still, sigh. Comics.
Quite fitting that this is brought up during the 25th anniversary of one of the biggest contract scams in comics.

It just goes to show that you can't EXPECT people or corporations to be decent, I suppose.
I have no doubt that the law is going to be on Kirkman's side, just as the law is undoubtedly on DC's side (vs Moore).
But the whole idea of creator owned comics, I thought, is that they would be inherently more HUMANISTIC; it's the village vs the nation, you know? When you know everyone around you personally, you're less likely to screw them over, you're more likely to hold yourself morally accountable.
Money is money though.

Agreed. Which is why I'm hoping that it's the inclusion of ABC and the TV-series that done fucked it all up (as that seems ultimately to be the key event); ABC jewed Kirkman into jewing Moore.

Right, Kirkman apparently told Moore that the deal wouldn't go through unless Moore signed over the rights completely to Kirkman.
But hey, if it was all about what you present to the corporations, why couldn't Kirkman have simply paid a reasonable portion of the funds he received TO Moore, indirectly, from the funds he was receiving from ABC/AMC/Whatever.
I don't know. Maybe Moore is just being a dick, it's possible. I guess we'll have to wait for more word on it.

Why does he hate Kirkman?
Because Kirkman hates Marvel?

I would have thought he would have been ambivalent, at least, since Kirkman also hates DC.

Slayven became angry with Kirkman when he said something about saving comics. Since then, he has repeated "Has he saved comics yet?" in some form about a million times in true Slayven fashion.

Slayven is the house negro of the 21st century; a "servant" for a corporate 'house'. But in all seriousness, yeah. It's really that simple. I bet he doesn't really know himself why. I bet his line of reasoning is something along the lines of "what Kirkman does goes directly against what Marvel is doing, I am in love with Marvel, thus I have to hate Kirkman". But mostly he's hung up on Kirkman's statement that he's trying to save comics.

No, he might not like DC but he can still understand it by virtue of being a corporation. Anything outside of that, he simply doesn't understand. He doesn't like Alan Moore either (uppity negro who's sassy towards the massahs), and I remember a thread in the movie forum where he went off about what a hippocryte Moore is for talking smack about the movies but "still collecting royalties from them and allowing them to happen". When Millarworld takes off and becomes a proper publishing company, he's gonna rant against Millar and any other creator he takes along with him. Just wait and see.

Hhahaha
I guess I don't understand the whole corporate driven mentally.
I really like the intellectual property of DC. I love those characters.
But OF COURSE the Corporation is a fucking evil, profit mongering machine. That's what it was BUILT for. That's what all corporations are BUILT for.
Isn't Slay, like, European? I would have thought this kind of insane, hyper capitalist dogma would have come from an american.

No, he's from a mud hole in Georgia, USA. He just posts in the Britpack thread, pretending he could escape the miserable shanty that he's holed up in. He's the janitor for a local Cable TV Station.

Kirkman fires back http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=36949I'm in Kirkman's side. If Tony is not listed as a creator in the first issue he's not a creator. It really doesn't seem like he did much work for the series. Even if you want to get into character design its not like the characters have any uniqueness to them.

Slayven: (at grocery store, sees that the price of cottage cheese and pig hooves went up) Looks like Kirkman is saving comics. (sarcastic heavy sigh)
Random customer: Hey, I think some kid threw up in produce.
Slayven: (shakes head) Fucking Nu DC... (grabs mop bucket and slinks off)
