I don't think the Patriots will give him that kind of money unless they know for sure that there won't be any kind of salary cap for years to come. They are fucking cheap.

I know. I mean they might get it done because he is fucking Tom Brady. A first ballot HOFer and in that ultraelite tier of QB's with Manning and Brees. He took less money 6 years ago to help out, but he isn't taking less money this time around. They need to just fucking pay him. They paid Wilfork. Why not Brady? If they don't get this done I am going to firebomb Kraft's and Belichick's homes.

Because they are retards. I mean...dear lord, I felt better about Alex Smith than I do Bradford! To me, all they did was get a younger Marc Bulger.

I wouldn't bet on him yet. Spread QB's tend to disappoint.

They HAVE to put that rookie cap in next year. I mean shit, how can the players union want this shit? If they institute a cap and a floor and a rookie wage scale that would mean more money for the veterans and shit to make.

Truth. I mean shit, how can the players union want this shit? If they institute a cap and a floor and a rookie wage scale that would mean more money for the veterans and shit to make.
I think they like the fact that it drives up the price for veterans when you have unproven players making so much.

I don't think it does. If you have a team cap and floor, they have to spend X amount of money. If a rookie wage cap was in place, then it would free up more money for everyone else. I've not heard one veteran ever say they were in favor of the system the way it is. Everyone seems to be universally in favor of a rookie cap. The only people in favor of keeping things the way are are the agents and unfortunately they have a lot more pull in the NFL than they should.

Bradford's going to be the real deal. I wanted him to fall to Seattle more than anything; the only problem I think he has is durability in that shoulder, but between his skill set and his intellect, I think he's got it absolutely made in the NFL. I haven't thought so highly of a QB prospect in years.

This and he's a spread qb with slightly above average arm strength. Nothing about Bradford has ever stood out to me as separating him from the pack. Also I agree with Strider hard. They need to cap it, maybe like 40 million over 6 years is the max with no more than 25 guaranteed. It's gonna get to the point where teams are going to be trying to get rid of the pick like the plague and those who do sign the player arent going to have enough money to invest in quality players around them and then you'll see an increase in bust.

Yeah, but you still say losing a kicker is the reason for your team's current decline. I just haven't been impressed with him from what I've seen a college. The type of offense he played, normally does not translate well to the NFL. That and he seems injury prone and he will be hit. A lot. If he starts, he's possibly going to challenge David Carr for sacks because that Rams offense is horrible, no TE, no WRs, the offensive line might as well be nicknamed swiss cheese. He does have Jackson...but the guy took a beating last year.

Bradford ia going to be average at best. But this contract won't matter since this is the last year of professional football ever.

Honestly? I don't knowthe owners should want a rookie wage scale. Sure, the first 10 picks get ridiculous amounts of money. But after that, most of these teams are getting very good to great players at a bargain. Most players tend to outplay their contracts. For every one Jamarcus Russell, you get a Patrick Willis, Jon Beason, Darrelle Revis, Sidney Rice, Lamarr Woodley, Leon Hall etc. Who seriously outplay their rookie deals, thus providing great value on those contracts. Look at last year, Stafford (1) gets 61 mil and 41 mil guaranteed, which is ridiculous. But you also have Brian Orakpo (13) at 5 years and 15 mil, 12 guaranteed. Brian Cushing (15) at 5 years 14 mil and 10 guaranteed. Percy Harvin (22) 5 yrs 12 mil, 8.4 guaranteed, Michael Oher (23) 5 yrs and 10 mil, 7.8 guaranteed. Beanie Wells (31) 5 yrs and 9 mil, 6.3 guaranteed. Can anyone say that those totals don't look like serious bargains? Supposedly owners don't want to lower the years needed for unrestricted free agency from 4 to 3 in order to put in a rookie wage scale. Which the Union will never agree to, as most NFL careers are short, and players shouldn't be locked in small money deals for too long. But if they reduce it to three for UFA. You'll see shorter deals in the first round, and a lot of these players (especially running backs, who usually see only what big money long term deal) are going to be looking at one extra big time deal. Like a rb comes in at 21, can get a huge deal at 24, and get another at 27 or 28. Owners will end up spending more money in the long run.
